RRB Exam Calendar

Indian Railways’ delay in finalizing the exam dates for Railway Group D stage 1 exam has sparked a protest on Twitter. Taking to social media, thousands of aspirants are raising their concerns using hashtags #RRBEXAMCALENDAR and #RRCGROUPDEXAMDATE in order to urge the Railway Recruitment Board to announce the exam dates for the massive recruitment drive for RRC Group D.. They also urged the concerned agencies to release an exam calendar for the timely conduct of exams.

According to the trends, the aspirants are angered by the silence of the Indian Railways on Group D exam dates that are yet to be published even after two and half years when the board received applications. Citing the ongoing conditions when several central agencies have started taking exams, students allege Indian Railways in deliberately delaying the exam schedule.

Indian Railways on the other hand has said that it will hold Group-D exams only after the ongoing NTPC exam is over. Board said that the number of applications is huge hence it will only be possible to hold the Level 1 exam after the NTPC exam is concluded. It also asked candidates to visit the official websites of RRBs for any notice/Information regarding the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).

Railway Recruitment Cell, on behalf of Indian Railways, announced the official notification of the Group D (Level 1) selection posts in February 2019. Subsequently, the process of receiving online applications from eligible applicants was also conducted in March-April 2019. According to the official advertisement RRC CEN 01/2019, as many as 1,03,769 vacancies are on offer and over 1.15 crore applicants have applied for these posts. Even after 2.5 years have passed when the board received applications, it is yet to release the exam schedule of the 1st stage computer-based test.

Last year in December, the railways had said that the RRC group D exam will begin after the RRB NTPC exam is over. However, in a recent notification, the Railway Board announced the exam dates for non-technical popular category (NTPC) examinations. According to that notice, NTPC 7th phase exam will be held on July 23, 24, 26 and 31.

RRB Group D stage 1 exam will be held in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. According to the detailed advertisement, the Group D exam consists of as many as 100 questions from General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs sections. The duration of the computer-based test is 90 minutes. Candidates qualifying the CBT will have to undergo a physical efficiency test (PET), followed by document verification and medical examination.
