The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has postponed the release of the RRB Group D exam date 2021. In the latest notice, RRB has announced that all railway recruitments are postponed for now. This includes RRB NTPC recruitment (CEN 01/2019), Ministerial and Isolated Categories recruitment (CEN 03/2019) and RRC Group D (CEN 01/20219).
Earlier, RRB was to announce Group D exam dates after the end of the NTPC exam. However, until now, only 6 phases of NTPC CBT phase 1 have been held. So far, the recruitment board has only conducted the NTPC phase 1 exam for around 119 lakh candidates and the remaining 6 lakh candidates are waiting to take the test.
It was expected that RRB will hold NTPC phase 7 and 8 in the month of April-May and after that, the exam for Group D will start. However, due to the deadly second wave of COVID, the NTPC exam has also been put on hold and because of this Indian railway is unable to decide the exam date for RRB Group D 2021.
The RRB has notified that the recruitment has been put on hold because of the various restrictions put up by states due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In most of the state, there is lockdown or restriction in conducting the exam. Because of this RRB is not able to conduct the exam at the national level.
Railway Recruitment Board has also informed that new RRB Group D exam dates and for other examination will be announced later once, after the restrictions in the states are lifted.
The official notice by RRB says, “RRB have notified three Centralized Employment Notification (CENs), No. 01/2019, No. 03/2019 and No. RRC.01/2019, for various categories. The recruitment process has commenced from December, 2020 after easing of restriction imposed on account of COVID 19 and is being held in phase. Further scheduling of CBT has been held up because of various prescriptions imposed by the affected states due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic once again. Candidates are hereby informed that further scheduling of examination will be advised in due course once the restrictions imposed by various states are erased. .”

Candidates should note 103769 railway Group D vacancies are open under RRC Group D recruitment but is also referred to as RRB Group D recruitment.

Railway Recruitment Board conducts the Group D recruitment exam to fill up vacancies for Level-1 posts such as Helper, Assistant, Pointsman, Track Maintainer etc. in various departments of the Indian Railway. RRB Group D application process for group D recruitment has been already closed in 2019. There are 1,03,769 vacancies in this recruitment drive.
Exactly 1,15,67,248 candidates had applied for this recruitment against RRC CEN 01/2019.
The registered candidates will be allotted the exam date, city, time and also will be issued the admit card for the test. This process will depend on the new exam date as decided by the RRBs in due course.
It may be noted that RRB Group D recruitment is conducted through three stages among which, the Computer Based Test is the first selection stage. Candidates have to answer an all-objective question paper consisting of 100 objective-type questions. The paper is based on General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for UR, 40% for EWS, 30% for OBC, 30% for SC, 30% for ST.
RRB exams are held in 15 languages: Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Marathi, Manipuri, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
RRBs will call a number of candidates equal to three times the number of vacancies, which is around 3,11,307 only. So only 2.7% of the candidates who appear in the exam will be called for the physical tests. Railway Recruitment Board is conducting this recruitment for various posts in level 1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
