Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotsara has confirmed that a decision regarding the fate of RBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2021 will be taken today. Both the Class 10 and Class 12 exams of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education were postponed earlier on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through his official Twitter handle, the state education minister tweeted last night that as per consultation with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, a decision regarding board exams 2021 will be taken in a cabinet meeting today. As per reports, RBSE conducted the board exams last year amidst the pandemic even when the central education board scrapped the exams. This year, CBSE has cancelled the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. However, the Rajasthan Board only postponed the Class 10 & 12 exams and a final decision is expected after the cabinet meeting today.
Earlier, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) announced that the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2021 will be conducted on and from May 06, 2021. However, after reviewing the pandemic situation in April, the state government postponed both exams. There was no confirmation of any tentative revised date and till now, the fate of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams is to be decided. The latest tweet by the state education minister however provides some assurance that a final decision will be announced after the meeting anytime today.
Most state boards have followed the footsteps of the CBSE and CISCE and cancelled the Class 10 board exams before owing to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand, most states have postponed Class 12 finals although the CBSE/CISCE Class 12 exams 2021 was cancelled yesterday.
Union Minister of Education RP Nishank announced earlier that the fate of the Class 12 board exams will be decided by June 01, 2021. However, the decision was expected to be delayed after the minister was reportedly hospitalized in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi following post-COVID complications. But by the end of the day, the news broke regarding the cancellation of Class 12 board exams.
Some states had opposed the decision to conduct the Class 12 board exams. In an earlier meeting of state and central education minister, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia opposed the decision citing that students below the age of 18 years have no provision for receiving COVID vaccine yet in India. The Class 12 board exams must only be conducted after students and officials have been adequately vaccinated, he said.
Candidates awaiting a decision of the Rajasthan state government regarding the fate of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams this year are advised to remain vigilant on media broadcasts as the Rajasthan state government comes to a decision today.
