The Board of Secondary Education Odisha has announced that the OSSTET Exam 2021 will now be conducted on August 27, 2021. The board announced the dates via a press note. The application form for the OSSTET began on July 02, 2021, while the last date to apply for the same was July 20, 2021. With the announcement of the dates, there has been a panic amongst the students as now it will clash with OPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2021. The official notice for the OPSC prelims announcing the date has been released on July 19, 2021.
As of now, none of either board has announced to change their respective dates. If the boards do not take any final decision regarding changing the exam date of any exam i.e. OSSTET or OPSC Prelims then, in that case, the candidates will be left with no choices but to opt for the examination for which they are fully prepared.
The OSSTET (Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test) exam is a Teacher Eligibility Test of Odisha state and is a mandatory examination for those candidates who are willing to join any government or private institution as a teacher. There are two papers in the examination, i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2. The first paper is held for the candidates who have opted for Education Teachers while paper 2 is for the Physical Education teachers.
In the first paper, Odia and child development pedagogy is the common paper for all the students while there is a subject-based paper on the basis of the stream chosen by the candidates. The candidates get 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the examination and the marking scheme is 1 mark for every correct answer. However, there is no provision for a wrong answer.
In a similar way, the OPSC Civil Services examination is for those students who wish to work as Administrative officers in the state. The Preliminary and Mains examination is conducted in any of the five zones opted by the candidate i.e. Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur. The Preliminary exam of OPSC comprises two papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2 i.e. General Studies of 200 marks each. The duration of completing the preliminary examination is 2 hours for each paper. Additionally, the candidates are required to score at least 33% marks in the examination to qualify for the Mains examination.
