An official notice released at the OSSSC website has officially put off scheduled tests for the recruitment of Junior Clerk/Junior Assistant. The Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission has earlier notified that a competitive Essay & Letter writing and Computer Practical Test (CPT) would be scheduled on May 10, 2020, for recruitment under General and Special Drive for ST/SC-2018. However, in view of the ongoing adversities as a result of the widespread COVID-19 pandemic affecting India, the selection tests has been temporarily postponed. The official notice came out at the website of the Commission osssc.gov.in earlier this week. OSSSC has deferred the tests until further orders are issued in this respect. We extracted the published notice from the official website for our readers to see below.

OSSSC officially announced that it will conduct an Odia Essay and Letter Writing and Computer Practical Test on May 10, 2020, vide notification number IIE-23/2019-43 (C)OSSSC. The notice came out through the official OSSSC website indicating that these tests would be conducted for the recruitment of Junior Clerk/Junior Assistant for General and Special Drive-2018. However, now that the Commission has published the latest notice of postponement, the examination is not going to be conducted on May 10, 2020 as indicated earlier.

The postponement of the OSSSC Junior Clerk/Junior Assistant recruitment selection tests is not the first of such announcements in India during the last two to three months. In the greater interest of public health and safety, the government ordered a complete shutdown of all academic institutions as well as business sectors. This resulted in numerous government recruitment bodies deferring scheduled examinations that were upcoming in the period between March to April 2020. However, now that the lockdown has been extended, those that were scheduled to be conducted in May 2020 are also being postponed.

It is expected that the OSSSC can release rescheduled dates for conducting the tests during the latter part of this year. We are hoping that the situations are normalized very soon and the socio-economic scenario to be restored. However, applicants are advised to monitor the website of the OSSSC on a regular basis for any new updates on the rescheduling of the concerned recruitment test.

OSSSC has clearly cited the reason for the unprecedented deferment of the Junior Clerk/Junior Assistant recruitment under General and Special Drive for ST/SC-2018. The selections tests for recruitment into the aforementioned posts has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected India. As we know, the COVID-19 outbreak has been regarded as a global pandemic to affect more than 200 countries around the world including India. The government ordered a 21 days total lockdown on all socio-economic activities to control the spread of the virus hoping for the pandemic to end by the said period. However, when situations were not restored as expected even after the end of the 21 days lockdown, the government extended the lockdown period till May 03, 2020.
