National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2019 registrations. UGC NET is conducted at national level for determining the eligibility of Assistant professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in both Indian universities and colleges. The eligible candidates can apply until October 09, 2019.
Candidates who are in the final year of Masters or have passed M.A with a minimum of 55 % marks (general) and 50 % marks (OBC non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD / transgender) are eligible to apply for the examination. The Ph.D holders whose masters have been completed by 19th September 1991 shall also be eligible with a relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks (i.e from 55 % to 50%) for appearing in NET.
The body further demands that a candidate who is applying for JRF have to be below 30 years of age. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for OBC non-creamy layer / SC / ST / PwD / women / transgender. Whereas for the post of assistant professor, there is no such upper age limit.
To apply for UGC NET registrations, go to the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Then, click on the ‘fill online application form’ tab. After clicking on it, there will be certain instructions with regards to the submission of the application form of UGC NET. Go through it carefully and hit the proceed button. Then you have to submit few details by which an application number and password will be generated. Login with the same and start filling the form.
Along with the application form, the general category candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs 1000 by general categories, Rs 500 by OBC NCL and Rs 250 by SC / ST / PWD / Transgender. The payment can be done through net banking / debit card / credit card / paytm.
The admit card for UGC NET examination will be available on November 09, 2019 at NTA’s website. Candidates need to enter their application number, date of birth and captcha code to download it. The timings of the exam, venue, NET subject, exam schedule and some instructions will be provided in it.
The examination is scheduled to be held from December 02 to 06, 2019. NTA will conduct the examination in two shifts – 9:30 am to 12:30 am and 02:30 pm to 05:30 pm. It will be a computer based test comprising of two papers. Paper I intends to assess the teaching / research aptitude of the candidate. Whereas paper II will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. Paper I will be of 100 marks and paper II of 200 marks.
Candidates should report at the exam center two hours before the commencement of the exam so as to complete the registration formalities. The registration desk will be closed 30 minuted prior to the examination. Candidates shall not be permitted to enter in the exam center after 8:30 am in the first shift and 1:30 pm in the second shift.
In order to be considered for both JRF and assistant professor, candidates (general) must secure atleast 40 % aggregate marks and 35 % marks by candidates belonging to (SC / ST / OBC / PwD / transgender) in the examination.
