National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) is inviting online applications from eligible candidates to fill up vacancies for the posts of Scientist and Technician. An official advertisement notification i.e. Advertisement No. NIOT/2020/01 (Regular) has been published in this regard at the Institute’s website. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online at the website of NIOT i.e. niot.res.in before the last date. The last date of submission of online applications is September 07, 2020. The last date of receipt of the hard copy of the application form is September 14, 2020. However, candidates domiciled in specified remote locations are allowed to submit the hard copies up to September 21, 2020.
05 vacancies are available for different Scientist posts and a Technician post. One vacancy each is available for the posts of Scientist-F (Electrical Engg.), Scientist-C (Civil Engg.), Scientist-B (Mechanical/marine Engg-1), Scientist-B (Civil Engg-1) and Technician Grade-A (Electrician/Instrumentation). All of the vacancies are to be filled up on direct recruitment basis. Appointed candidates are entitled to receive remuneration at pay levels 02, 10, 11 and 13A depending on the post appointed to. Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility conditions as specified to apply for individual posts. For the post of Scientist-F, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Technology obtained by securing 60% or more marks. 16 years of relevant experience is also required. Candidates applying for the post of Scientist-C must have a first-class (60%) Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering along with 03 years or more of relevant experience. Those who wish to apply for the post of Scientist-B (Mechanical/Marine) must have a first-class (60%) Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering. On the other hand, candidates willing to apply for the posts of Scientist-B (Civil) must have a first-class (60%) Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Those who are willing to apply for the post of Technician Grade-A must have passed Class 10th and acquired an ITI certificate in Electrical/Instrumentation from an NCVT recognized institute. Basic knowledge of computer applications is mandatory. Although not essential, but 02 years of relevant experience is desired.
The selection of eligible applicants for the final appointment is to be done on the basis of the interview, skill test, written test, trade test as applicable for individual posts. Applicants for Scientist-F are to be selected through interview alone. The selection for other Scientist posts is to be done through Test/Interview. However, for the post of Technician Grade-A, the selection of eligible applicants is to be made on the basis of Trade Test/Written Test and Skill Test. Indian citizens who meet the specified eligibility conditions must apply online at the NIOT website. The online application form must be filled up and a recent passport-sized photograph must be uploaded before submission. Incomplete applications are not accepted and candidates will not get any chance to edit already submitted applications. In addition to the online application, candidates must also forward the hard copy of the submitted online application form to The Director, National Institute of Ocean Technology, Velachery – Tambaram Main Road, Pallikaranai, Chennai – 600100 within 07 days from the date of closing of the online application window. Candidates living in remote areas including the states of Assam, Meghalaya, AP, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh, Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep must submit their offline application form within 15 days of closing of online applications. Self-attested copies of documents & testimonials must be attached as enclosure and a recent passport-sized photograph must be affixed with the application form.
