Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Western Railways (WR) invites online applications for general departmental competitive examination (GDCE) for 141 vacancies of JE, and 8 vacancies of DMS. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online at rrc-wr.com. Last date to apply is October 15, 2019.
A three years diploma in relevant disciplines is the minimum requirement to be JE in any of the nineteen departments where the vacancies have arisen. However a higher qualification such as BE / B.Tech is also acceptable.
Railways has set the upper age limit criteria as 42, 45, 47 years respectively for UR, OBC, SC/ST. Upper limit for them by their date of birth is defined as 02/01/1978, 02/01/1975, and 02/01/1973.
There will be a computer based test for the purpose of selection. Questions shall be set in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati. All questions will be objective type, with negative marking of 1/3rd of marks allotted to that question. RC WR GDCE notification 2019 for JE says, “The syllabus and standard of the examination shall be of the level of RRB examination of Notified post”.
For this recruitment, such regular employees of Indian Railways can apply who are working in 7th CPC level lower than grade / pay scale for which the GDCE is being held. Those who are in the same level can apply for non-safety to safety category posts as well as safety to safety category posts. Besides, Railways requires applicants to be satisfying educational requirements and age limit. RPF/RPSF personnel are not eligible.

Four annexures need to be uploaded with the form, on an as applicable basis. Annexure I is the community certificate for SC/ST candidates only. Annexure II is community certificate for OBC candidates. The annexure III is also for OBC candidates, it is the self-declaration required on their behalf. Annexure IV is for scribes, for candidates who are visually impaired, writing speed affected by cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, those with locomotor disability, intellectual disability.
Generated registration number needs to be kept safely, for the purpose of downloading admit card when it is released at the same website, rrc-wr.com. Prior to that, a list of eligible candidates will be uploaded.
