The National Testing Agency has not yet released the application form for the NEET UG 2021 examination. While the exam has been delayed this year due to the pandemic situation, whether the exam will be postponed or not can be known within the next 2-3 weeks as per latest developments.
NTA has scheduled the NEET 2021 exam in August. However, after the recent cancellation of the Class 12 board exams, speculations are rising as to whether the NEET-UG exam will be further postponed or not. The examination is held for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses across top medical institutions in India.
The Ministry of Education is going to review the situation, on whether it is conducive to hold the national level medical entrance exam in August or not. As per the review, a final decision will be taken and announced.
Nevertheless, even if the exam gets delayed, there are now high chances that at least registration for the exam will begin soon. However in this case, soon may mean after class 12 results are announced.
There was a recent rumour that the NEET 2021 application form has been released by the NTA on the official website. However, in reality, the new website (neet.nta.nic.in) was put up only in late March and a notice that the application form is releasing was put up on the website at the same time. The notice has remained there since then and the NEET 2021 application form for UG Medical admissions in 2021 will be released by the NTA in due course of time. There is no official confirmation of any tentative date as to when the form will be released.
As of now, the NTA has neither cancelled nor postponed the NEET 2021 exam. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on August 01, 2021, although there are speculations now that there is no need to postpone the exam anymore apart from adverse pandemic related reasons. This is because the CBSE and other national education boards have cancelled the Class 12 board examinations. On the other hand, states like Assam, West Bengal, Tripura may proceed to conduct the Class 12 exams.
The minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam 2021 is being conducted for admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs such as MBBS and BDS. However, this year, the board exams have been postponed and cancelled due to the pandemic situation. While earlier, there was widespread confusion as to whether national boards like CBSE and CISCE will be conducting the Class 12 board exams or not, recently, all the national board following the CBSE has cancelled the board exams.
The Supreme Court has asked the boards to propose the objective criterion for evaluation of the candidate’s merit for promotion ahead of Class 12. On this basis, the NTA may take a decision whether to conduct the NEET UG 2021 as per schedule in August, or to postpone further. Candidates are advised to remain vigilant on official website for latest updates.
