State CET Cell, Maharashtra conducted the first day of the MBA CET 2021 exam today on September 16, 2021. The MBA entrance examination will be held across three days i.e., from September 16 to 18 in the state of Maharashtra. With the conclusion of all shifts of the Day 1 exam today, the analysis of today’s question paper is now available here. The first shift exam was held from 09.00 AM to 11.30 PM while the second shift exam was held from 02.00 PM to 04.30 PM.
Level of Difficulty
As per reports, in the overall context, the question paper of today’s MBA CET 2021 exam across the morning and afternoon shifts was of the easy to moderate level. Although there was a reported jumbling of questions in contrast to the usual pattern of the paper, in the overall context, the level of difficulty of the questions was not very hard.
Candidates reported that the questions in both the morning and the afternoon shift exams today were jumbled instead of being arranged in sections. While this is expected to have contributed to the difficulty level of the paper today, from another perspective, the level of difficulty of the questions was easy to moderate in both shifts.
Important Topics
Candidates reported that in the first shift exam, no questions were asked from the Data Interpretation and Input-Output based topics. However, as per reports, in the second shift exam, one or two DI based questions were asked in today’s exam. In addition, in the first shift exam, there was reportedly a lower number of puzzle-based questions i.e., only 04, in contrast to the past year exam trends.
While in the first shift exam, a significant weightage of marks was carried by questions based on Logarithm and Indices. In the second shift exam as well, the maximum percentage of marks was carried by questions from Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates reported after the exam that in the second shift, around 30-40% of questions were based on Quantitative Aptitude.
Very basic difficulty level Antonym/Synonym based questions were asked in the section of Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension in the first shift exam. Candidates also reported that Vocabulary based questions were prevalent in both shifts of the exam in the Verbal Ability section.
While a few questions were included from Logical Reasoning in the second shift exam, around fifty questions were asked from Analytical Reasoning. Since the pattern of the question paper was jumbled, there was no fixed number of questions from each section. As per reports, there was an evident dissent among the candidates against the decision to abruptly change the question pattern without any warning.
Good Attempts
Based on post-exam student reactions and memory-based reports received from candidates who appeared in today’s exam, the number of good attempts is expected to remain quite high. One of the fundamental reasons behind this is the easy level of difficulty of the question paper across both shifts of today’s exam.
Candidates reported that they were able to solve around 176 questions out of 200 accurately. As the paper was jumbled, the conducting body has reduced the level of difficulty in today’s MBA CET 2021 exam, experts suggested. Besides, it is also expected that the cut-offs may be set a little lower due to the jumbling of the question papers. Overall, it is expected that the number of good attempts can be in the range of 170 to 180 out of 200 questions.
