lic ado requirements

Life Insurance Corporation is accepting online applications for 8581 vacancies of Apprentice Development Officers at licindia.in until June 9, 2019. LIC ADO 2019 is one of the largest govt job recruitments going on now in India.

Either Graduation or Fellowship from Insurance Institute of India mandatory

Whether one is eligible for applying or not, should be confirmed before filling up LIC ADO online form and paying fee. A requirement to be fulfilled involves possessing requisite educational qualification. In order to be eligible for LIC ADO recruitment 2019, candidates should be graduates. Either that, or should have Fellowship from Insurance Institute of India.

Notification says, A candidate must possess “Bachelor’s Degree of a University in India established under a statute or approved for the purpose or the Fellowship of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.” Thus, general graduation is required. There is no stream or branch or course specification. BA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, or any graduate as long as degree is recognized can apply. LIC may give preference to candidates who are more knowledgeable about insurance marketing and have MBA or PGDM in Marketing.

Candidates fall under Agents, Employees, and Others Category

This is applicable for recruitment in both Urban as well as Rural areas. Moreover it applies to all three categories of applicants namely Agents, Employees, and Others. For the purpose of ADO recruitment, LIC has categorized candidates into Agents, Employees, and Others. Agents mean those who were appointed as an agent under LIC Agents Regulation 2017. Employees mean those who are confirmed whole time salaried employees of LIC and belong to Class III. Others are those who belong to neither of these and are from open market.

21 to 30 year old candidates can apply; relaxation for 9 reserved categories

Another requirement to fulfill is age criteria. Candidate should be at least 21 years old and no more than 30 years old as on May 1, 2019. Therefore he/she should be born between May 2, 1989, and May 1, 1998. Nevertheless relaxation in age is applicable, as follows.

Experience mandatory for Agents, Employees; Preference given to Others with experience

Next requirement arises is of experience. Employee category candidates should have served for at least 3 years after class III confirmation. Agents in urban areas should have served at least 5 years as agent or other than agent (like DSE/FSE) and brought net first year premium income of at least 5 lakh during immediately preceding 5 financial years and first year premium income of not less than 1 lakh on 50 lives in each of any 3 financial years.

Whereas agents in rural areas should have served at least 5 years as agent or other than agent (like DSE/FSE) and brought net first year premium income of not less than 1 lakh on 50 lives per year in any 3 of immediately preceding 4 financial years. Other category candidates do not have mandatory experience requirement. However preference will be given to those who have at least 2 years experience in life insurance industry.

More than 1 crore are eligible for LIC ADO

As per AISHE 2015-16 survey, 3.5 crore students are enrolled in higher education. Since then, this number has only risen. Therefore all these crores of candidates are technically eligible for LIC ADO recruitment 2019, as long as they satisfy age parameters.

As per reports, unemployment in India during 2017-18 was 6% to 7% in urban areas, and 5.3% in rural areas. Further as per more reports, number of unemployed people in India stood at 1.4 crores as in July 2017. And in February 2019, number of active jobseekers happened to be 3.1 crores. Unemployment rates among graduates and postgraduates are 16.3% and 14.2% respectively. 7-8 years ago, number of graduates and postgraduates looking for a job equaled around 80 lakh.

As far as enthusiasm for govt jobs go, even employed people in India actively prepare for various govt jobs. This became obvious when more than 1.5 crore applications were received by Railway Recruitment Board in its 2018 and 2019 recruitment of ALP, Group D and other posts.

LIC ADO Recruitment 2019 is thus a metaphorical equivalent of hot cake for candidates having at least a graduate degree. What makes it even more tempting is that the exam pattern is similar to that of other banking exams, which several candidates have anyhow been preparing for. Whether lakhs or crores apply for it remain to be seen, but what is important to note is that days are flying away towards last date of registration. And anyone interested in this job, should hasten and apply now.
