Indian Army has made it mandatory to pass the Joint Entrance Exam (Main) in order to be eligible for recruitment through Technical Entry Scheme. The Army has released a public notice on the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in in this regard stating that JEE Main has been made obligatory for TES 46 course.

Furthermore, the Army has also announced that the online registration window for TES 46 intake will tentatively commence in July-August 2021.

It may be noted that the Indian Army recruits candidates who have passed Class 12 through the Technical Entry Scheme every year. The upcoming TES recruitment is for the 46th course, hence the reference TES 46 for course commencing in January 2022. Till now, the minimum eligibility criteria for recruitment through TES were as follows.

  • Candidates must be an Indian/subject of Nepal or Bhutan/Tibetan refugee (under special considerations)/migrants (under special considerations).
  • Applicants must be aged between 16.5 and 19.5 years old.
  • The minimum educational qualification required is Class 12 pass.
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 by studying the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • One must have secured at least 70% marks in aggregate in the aforementioned subjects.

All of the aforementioned minimum eligibility criteria will remain unchanged although, from now on, candidates will have to clear the JEE Main exam before they can appear in the TES 46 exam. The army has clarified that passing in the JEE Main exam is an additional eligibility criteria to minimum marks in PCM in Class 12.

With the online registrations for the TES 46 scheduled to commence in July-August 2021, candidates can expect the army to also release the official TES 46 advertisement indicating the details of the recruitment. The complete and updated eligibility criteria can be checked in the advertisement as and when it releases on the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in.

Aspirants of the Indian Army TES 46 2021 must note that the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is held by the National Testing Agency every year. In 2021, instead of two sessions, the NTA is conducting the JEE main exam in four sessions. The reason behind this is to allow candidates multiple chances to improve their score in the midst of the pandemic situation. While the first two sessions of the exam have already been conducted in February and March, 2021, the April and May 2021 session exams are yet to be conducted. NTA recently postponed the JEE Main 2021 April & May sessions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic not conducive to conducting physical examinations as of now.

TES 46 aspirants therefore still have a chance this year to appear and clear the JEE Main exam in the April and May 2021 sessions. The online registration window of JEE Main 2021 May sessions will open soon on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in and candidates are advised to register for the same if they have not already appeared in previous sessions as passing in the JEE Main 2021 has been made obligatory for recruitment into the army through Indian Army TES 46 January 2022 recruitment.
