Engineering aspirants across the nation have picked up their pace for their preparations for JEE Mains ever since NTA announced the schedule and released application forms. Completely overhauling the existing system, NTA will hold the JEE Main 2021 four times this year. Each exam will be known as a session – where session 1 will be in February, 2 in March, 3 in April, and 4 in May.
The first step in preparation, or at this stage last lap of preparation, is to know the syllabus. With this on the top of everyone’s minds, students are looking around for the syllabus. However with the new session system the searches are specific – students are searching specifically for JEE Main February 2021 syllabus, JEE Main March 2021 syllabus, JEE Main April 2021 syllabus, and JEE Main May 2021 syllabus.
It is to be noted that the syllabus – all topics – will be the same for all sessions. Therefore students can refer to the single syllabus provided by NTA and prepare as per it for all the iterations of the exam.
An important point to consider here is that the syllabus has not undergone any revision or reduction from last time. Whereas this year several boards including CBSE, UP, Maharashtra have cut down their syllabi by 25-30%.
To ensure that students of such boards are not at a disadvantage, NTA has decided to have optional questions in the JEE Mains exam. There will be 15 optional questions out of 90.
Nevertheless, the broader picture remains that students should try to study the whole syllabus because those who do, will be able to choose between the questions on which ones are easy and tough, rather than which one they studied in their syllabus.
Another case in point being that JEE Advanced 2021 will also, in all probability, not have a reduced syllabus. So to do well in the entrance exam for IITs (JEE Mains is for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and an eligibility exam for the JEE Advanced), a student will have to anyhow study the whole syllabus.
The complete syllabus of JEE Main 2021 – for all sessions i.e. February, March, April, May – is as follows.
