For smooth preparation for any exam, having a timetable is essential. And when it comes to a critical exam such as NEET – India’s only medical entrance exam where 15 lakh students compete for a handful of medical seats – every single aspect of preparation counts.
The year has anyhow been a year of haphazardness. NEET aspirants across the country are battling challenges that no batch ever before has faced – with no face to face classes, limited access to educators, education via online classes, and more. However until November, they all collectively had one goal – to prepare and do their best in the exam.
Then, since the beginning of December, the focus has shifted to trying to get information on the upcoming NEET UG 2021 exam date, and application form. Last year, NTA had released the application form for NEET exam on December 2nd. In the year prior, the registrations were started on November 1st. Now, the month of December is about to end and there is no update officially on the NEET UG 2021 application form date, and exam date.
Students are confused on how they should divide their time table for board exam preparation, and medical entrance exam preparation. Moreover, specifically for NEET how should they plan their topics over the coming weeks.
Other than that a lot of time is being spent over trying to gear up for expected changes in the exam. Ever since NTA announced changes in JEE Mains, the talk of the town has been anticipated changes in NEET UG as well.
Changes expected in NEET UG 2021 –
Eight days ago NTA made the important announcement on JEE Main 2021 exam. The national level engineering entrance exam has undergone crucial changes this time – with the biggest one being that the JEE Mains will be held four times this year. And the exam will have optional questions.
The increase in exam frequency will ensure that board exam dates do not clash, and the optional questions will compensate for reduced syllabus of boards. Both these factors apply to NEET UG exam as well, and thus logically similar changes should happen in NEET too. However whether NEET 2021 will also be held four times (or at least two times, as students are demanding), and whether it too will have optional questions or not have a big question mark around them right now. Until NTA or any official body makes announcement on the exam, no aspect of the exam is known.
However the one thing that the Education Minister clarified in his first webinar of #EducationMinisterGoesLive is that the syllabus of NEET UG will not change.
NEET UG 2021 application form date is expected to be announced soon. NTA is in consultation with NMC (National Medical Council) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the matter of this exam schedule. Meanwhile CBSE board exams 2021 have been decided to be postponed to at least after February. States such as Maharashtra have decided to hold their board exams in June.
