The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) session 1 registration portal is open now. Candidates can apply online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The last date to apply for the session 1 exam is March 31. The JEE Main exam is to be conducted twice this year- session 1 in April and session 2 in May. The JEE Main exam is conducted to admit eligible candidates into the NITs and other institutes for B.Tech, B.E, B.Arch and B.Planning courses. The exam also serves as a basis for selection of meritorious candidates who are eligible to attempt the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates who have passed the class 12/ equivalent examination in 2020/ 2021; or are appearing in 2022 can apply for the exam.

How to apply for JEE Main 2022 Session 1?
Step 1: First, open the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Registration for JEE (Main) 2022’ tab. The candidates will be redirected to an external website.
Step 3: Select ‘New Registration’ option.
Step 4: A set of instructions will be displayed on the screen. Read these instructions carefully, check the declaration box and proceed.
Step 5: Now, enter the personal details, communication details, set your password and continue.
Step 6: Upload the required documents- scanned copy of photograph, signature and category/ PwD certificate.
Step 7: Next, proceed to the online payment of application fees.
Candidates have to ensure the scanned documents size conforms to the prescribed limit. The scanned documents should be in JPEG format. Also, the payment can only be done online, through net banking, credit/ debit card and UPI.

JEE Main exam pattern
There are 3 papers in the exam- Paper 1 (B.Tech, B.E), Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning). Each paper is conducted for a duration of 3 hours, but candidates attempting both Paper 2A and 2B will be given total 3.5 hours. The first shift will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the second shift at 3:00 p.m. The maximum marks for Paper 1 exam is 300; for Paper 2A and 2B, the maximum marks is 400. Each MCQ carries 4 marks, with a negative marking of 1 mark, per wrong answer.
JEE Main Session 2
The session 2 exam will commence on May 24 and conclude on May 29. The registration for session 2 is likely to begin on April 8. Candidates who have applied for the session 1 can also apply for the session 2 exam. The better of the candidates’ scores in the 2 sessions will be considered as final.
