The April and May sessions of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2021 were recently postponed by the National Testing Agency. NTA postponed the April 2021 session exam at first following which, the May 2021 session exams were also deferred. Indications in the JEE Main 2021 May session postponement notice hints toward the fact that the May 2021 registrations are likely to begin at first after which, the exam dates of both the April and May session exams can be rescheduled.
NTA is conducting the JEE Main 2021 exam in four sessions this year instead of two. The reform has been introduced to give candidates a chance to attempt the examination amidst various socio-economic restrictions due to the pandemic. NTA has not announced the May 2021 session registrations date. However, the exam dates for both session were announced earlier.
The JEE Main April 2021 exams were initially scheduled to be held on April 27, 28 and 30, 2021. On the other hand, the May 2021 session exams were scheduled to be held on May 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2021. NTA has confirmed that revised exam dates will be announced at least 15 days before.
Since the recent postponement of the JEE Main 2021 April and May session exams, there has been no news on the announcement of any revised exam dates. It is also not confirmed when registrations for the May 2021 exam can start. However, based on indications in the JEE Main 2021 postponement notice, the May 2021 registration dates are expected to be announced at first, or along with the declaration of the April 2021 revised exam dates.
NTA has indicated in the JEE May 2021 exam postponement notice dated May 04 , 2021 that “The registration for the May Session will also be announced at a later stage. The rescheduling of the April and May sessions will be done subsequently”. Based on this, we expect the NTA to announce the registration date for JEE Main May 2021 session at first or at least along with the declaration of the exam dates of the April 2021 session.
The Agency has already conducted the first two sessions of the JEE Main 2021 (February & March). Official statistics regarding attendance in the first two sessions are already announced. Now that the last two sessions remain to be conducted, the NTA has directed aspiring candidates to utilise the time to prepare for the exam better.
