IIT Kharagpur has announced the decision to postpone JEE Advanced 2021 exam. The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced was scheduled to be held on July 3, 2021. However, due to the present situation of the pandemic, the engineering entrance exam stands deferred.
At the moment, there is no certainty on what the next exam date can be. However, they will inevitably depend on the following 5 factors – Number of COVID cases in the states, new dates of class 12 board exams, new exam dates of deferred JEE Main April and May exams, declaration of result of the deferred JEE Main exams, and cut off date set for admissions by UGC and AICTE.
As far as the pandemic is concerned, reports show signs of cases receding. However the low figures of today, were once considered extremely high not long ago. Hence in absolute terms, the pandemic is still raging and that it is unsafe to hold center based exams is a no-brainer.
Coming to the dates of class 12 board exams, states have more or less decided to go ahead with them. As of now new exam dates have been announced by only one state (Gujarat), but reports indicate that most state boards will hold board exams in July or August.
These dates will in turn dictate what the revised schedule for JEE Mains will be. And ultimately that will decide the fate of JEE Advanced exam. The latter can only be held after results are announced for all four sessions of the NTA organized Joint Entrance Examination Mains, since the All India Rank there decides the cut off of eligibility in this exam.
Engineering students across the nation may be informed that the test stands postponed for now. Keep checking jeeadv.ac.in for updates.
The official notice published today on the postponement says the following:
Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19, JEE (Advanced) 2021 which was scheduled to be held on July 03, 2021 (Saturday) stands postponed. The revised date of examination will be announced at an appropriate time.
