Punjab Board of Secondary Education (PSEB) is expected to conduct the pending Class 12 board exams for the academic year 2020-21 in June 2021. As per reports, the Punjab board is considering the option of conducting the exam for the main/core subjects. Furthermore, PSEB Chairman Yog Raj has confirmed that the state board is planning to conduct the board exams for Class 12 once the COVID 19 situation improves in the state. At the same time, the Punjab government shall prioritise vaccination of children before conducting the exams.
According to Raj, question papers for various subjects are already prepared. Even answer sheets have been made available for the Class 12 board exams. Additionally, a total of 2600 centres within the state have been allocated to conduct these exams, when the time is right.
Speaking about the new pattern for board exams, Raj clarified that the board exam dates are yet to be finalised. However, PSEB is planning on conducting the Class 12 board exams for three mandatory subjects for each stream. While this is decided, the government is still in talks about which subjects are the “major subjects” and what kind of marking scheme should be followed.
The Punjab Education Minister, Vijay Inder Singla, took to Twitter today, May 26, 2021, highlighting the intentions of PSEB. He also posted a number of pictures containing updates regarding the Punjab education board. According to Singla, the state government is dedicated to the well-being and health of students and teachers. This is especially with regard to the ongoing COVID19 conditions.
Education Minister of India, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ convened a high-level meeting on Sunday, May 23, 2021. The virtual meeting was conducted to discuss the various alternatives available for conducting the Class 12 board exams. During the meeting, all states were asked to send a detailed report of their proposals on or before May 25, 2021.
Following this, the Punjab state government sent a proposal highlighting the need to administer vaccines to students before hey appear for their board exams. Furthermore, exams must be conducted only for a few, selected subjects. As per government reports, approximately 3.18 lakh students are expected to appear for board exams while following all the COVID19 protocols and social-distancing norms.
Recently, on May 17, 2021, PSEB announced the results for Class 8 and 10. For Class 8, the results were evaluated based on a consistent and continuous evaluation. On the other hand, Class 10 results were determined based on internal assessments. If any student is not satisfied with the evaluation, he/she can write to the authorities at [email protected] Such students shall be allowed to appear for theory exams once the situation is favourable.
On Monday, May 24, 2021, PSEB announced the Class 5 board exam results for the current academic year 2020-21. Approximately 3.17 lakh students had appeared for the board exams this year. These students had to check their results on the official website pseb.ac.in by entering their exam roll number and other details.
