The Indian Coast Guard has canceled the recruitment for Yantrik 02/2020 batch. An official display of the notice of cancellation has been put up on the website of Indian Coast Guard i.e. joinindiancoastguard.gov.in. According to the notice, recruitment for the Yantrik 02/2020 batch has been canceled in view of the COVID-19 crisis. Incidentally, the online registration and application process of the Yantrik 02/2020 batch was conducted between March 16 and March 22, 2020. However, the recruitment exam, which was scheduled to be held in April 2020 was postponed following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The Coast Guard has not issued any further information as to whether there are any possibilities of conducting the recruitment on a later date.

The Yantrik recruitment is conducted twice a year by the Indian Coast Guard. The purpose of this recruitment is to select and appoint eligible candidates to the post of Yantrik in the Coast Guard which is a technical post by the nature of the job. Therefore, the Coast Guard invites application from Matriculate candidates having a Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Electrical & Telecommunication Engineering to fill up the vacancies that emerge from time to time. The Yantrik exam is conducted twice a year. In 2020, the Yantrik 02/2020 recruitment was advertised by the Coast Guard for joining of such eligible candidates to the course commencing in August 2020.

Having conducted the online application process in March, the Coast Guard was all set to conduct the selection tests in the month of April 2020 while the results were expected to be declared by July 2020. Shortlisted candidates were to be sent for training at INS Chilka before deployment into the corresponding posts. As indicated through the detailed recruitment notice of Yantrik 02/2020 recruitment, the initial selection of candidates was to be conducted through written examination which was earlier scheduled to be held in the month of April 2020. Those who could qualify in the written tests were to be shortlisted through Physical Fitness Tests and Medical examination which is often conducted over a time period of 2 to 3 days.

The news of the cancellation of the Yantrik 02/2020 batch recruitment is indeed a big hit on aspirants as it becomes one among other recruitment exams canceled or postponed in the last 2-3 months or so. Since the official notice of cancellation does not mention any future dates or any consideration for the rescheduling of the exam, it is, therefore, official that the recruitment of Yantrik 02/2020 batch recruitment is canceled. Candidates who wish to check out the notice themselves can download the press note from the website of the Indian Coast Guard.
