Income Tax Department has published a latest notification for the recruitment of meritorious sports person in sports quota. The 38 vacancies advertised by the IT department are to be filled up by the selection of eligible candidates through field trials. Meritorious sports person who has represented the Country/State or taken part in any recognized sporting events are invited to apply online at tnincometax.gov.in. The last date of submission of application is January 17, 2021. After the appointment, candidates have to represent the Income Tax Department for a minimum period of 10 years.
As per the official notification, the vacancies are for the posts of Inspector of Income Tax (12), Tax Assistant (16) and Multi Tasking Staff (10). Candidates appointed to the post of Inspector of Income Tax are entitled to receive monthly salary as per the scale of Rs 9300-34800 in addition Grade Pay of Rs 4600 at the Pay Band 2. For the posts of Tax Assistant and MTS, the monthly salary is to be paid as per the scale of Rs 5200-20200 and Grade Pay as per the Pay Band 1. Tax Assistants are entitled to receive Grade Pay of Rs 2400 while MTS post holders are entitled to receive Rs 1800.
Candidates are advised to read the notification carefully and ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility conditions before submitting online applications. For all of the advertised posts, the age of the applicants must be at least 18 years as on April 01, 2020. Similarly, the maximum age is also fixed at 25 years although relaxations on the upper age limit can be availed by candidates belonging to reserved categories.
Applicants must also be adequately qualified in terms of educational qualification. For the posts of Inspector of Income Tax and Tax Assistant, a Graduate Degree in any discipline obtained from a recognized University is necessary. On the other hand, Class 10 pass candidates can apply for MTS post.
In addition to the aforementioned minimum eligibility criteria, candidates must have taken part in the list of different types of sporting events from 2017 to 2020. Applicants have to indicate such information clearly in the application form.
The applications received by the Income Tax Department are to be scrutinized for further selection stages. Field trials are to be conducted for evaluation of physical fitness. Selected candidates are to be appointed in the Tamil Nadu & Puducherry region only for an initial probation period of 02 years.
