ICHR JRF 2021 Entrance Test on 18 May – Know How To Apply, Syllabus, Selection, Fellowship

ICHR JRF 2021 registration process began on March 12, 2021 and the last date to register for the same is April 11, 2021.

Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) is going to conduct the ICRH Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) 2021 entrance test on May 18, 2021, for 80 fellowships. The registration process for the same began on March 12, 2021. The last date to submit the online application form is April 11, 2021. Moreover, the last date to submit the self-attested print-out of the application form is April 21, 2021. Interested candidates, fulfilling the eligibility criteria, can apply for the exam on the official website ichr.ac.in within the specified deadline. The selected fellows shall receive a fellowship of Rs. 17,600 per month along with a contingency grant of Rs. 16,500 per year for a period of two years.

Candidates can apply for ICHR JRF 2021 entrance examination on the official website ichr.ac.in. They are required to fill the online application form and take a print-out of the application generated after filling the form. This hard-copy of the application must contain the auto-generated number. This document along with all other required documents must be submitted to the authorities.

Applicants are instructed to attach self-attested copies of the online application form, certificates of educational qualifications, experience, date of birth, checklist, etc and send it via post to the concerned authorities. The address to be mentioned is ‘Member Secretary, Indian Council of Historical Research, No.35 Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi – 110001.

During the registration process, candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs.500 through the application portal while filling the form. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST or PwD categories are exempted from this payment.

Students must bear in mind that it is mandatory to submit both online and print-out of application form. The print-out must be submitted along with the computer-generated unique ID number. Print-out of application form without the unique ID number shall not be accepted by the authorities.

Candidates appearing for the entrance examination are advised to check the ‘ICHR JRF Entrance Exam Notification 2021’ pdf to get details about the exam syllabus. The syllabus has been divided into three units – Ancient Indian History, Medieval Indian History and Modern Indian History. Respective topics and subjects have been listed underneath each unit in the official document. Candidates can access this document on the official website ichr.ac.in.

ICHR JRF 2021 selection process or examination stage involves two stages. The stage I examination comprises of 100 objective-type questions conducted through the online mode. Each question is allotted 1 mark and there is no negative marking in the exam. Candidates must choose their area of specialization (Ancient/Medieval/Modern) while filling the application form. Questions in the exam shall be based on the selected area of specialization.

Stage II comprises interview and presentation for all shortlisted candidates based on the merit of the Stage I examination. Each selected candidate is required to make a PowerPoint presentation of 8-10 minutes on the PhD research topic followed by the interview round. Both these aspects shall carry a total of 60 marks. Shortlisted candidates must bring their Stage I hall ticket for the presentation and interview rounds.

In total, stages I and II carry a maximum of 160 marks. Combined marks of Stage 1 and Stage II will be calculated to release the merit list. Stage 1 exam is going to be conducted at the centres located in Pune, Guwahati, Bengaluru and New Delhi. For Stage II, candidates have to report at ICHR, Headquarters, Delhi.
