The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has commenced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 from today. As per the official website, the examination dates fall over four dates, starting from today. GATE 2022 will also be held on February 06, 12 and 13, 2022. Candidates who will be appearing for the exam today should mandatorily download the admit card from the official website – gate.iitkgp.ac.in. As many as 09 lakh candidates will be appearing for the test across 200 examination centres in the country.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court of India dismissed the petitions filed by the candidates demanding postponement of the exam. It observed that interfering with the exam 48 hours prior to its commencement would create confusion and chaos among the examinees. There will be two slots over which the GATE 2022 exam will be held. While the first slot is from 09 AM to 12 Noon, the second slot has been kept from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Measures Taken
To ensure that the exam is held in a smooth way, IIT Kharagpur has released the GATE 2022 travel pass for the examinees. As per an official statement, the organizing institute has issued a letter for the smooth movement of the candidates who carry valid admit cards. Moreover, keeping in mind the uncertainties over the COVID-19 pandemic, some states may also announce curfews on the stipulated examination dates.
For hassle-free movement of the candidates, the district authorities over the country have been informed to allow the candidates who will carry a valid admit card to travel. The letter authorizing this is available on the official website which the candidates can download from gate.iitkgp.ac.in. Those who are yet to download the admit cards can do the same from the website itself.
