GATE 2021 Registration starts; Know how to apply here

IIT Bombay has started the GATE 2021 Application Process on their official website through the GOAPS system and the last day for the same is September 30, 2020.

GATE 2021 Registration

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay has started the registration process from September 14, 2020 for the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) 2021. The last date to register for the same is September 30, 2020. With late fees, candidates can apply till October 7, 2020. Only one application form is to be filled for both papers. However, candidates have to pay the fees for both papers separately. The GATE entrance exam is conducted every year for candidates who wish to pursue Masters and get PhD admissions in the field of engineering and technology. This exam shall provide admission to IITs, NITs and other universities across the country.

The GATE 2021 application form has to be filled through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). This interface allows aspirants to apply for the exam, download the admit card, check their exam result, etc. Candidates have to first, register on the official website by filling in details like name, email ID, country of residence, phone number and password of choice. After registering, candidates can fill the application form, pay the allotted fee and print the confirmation page for future reference.

The application process for the entrance exam consists of five steps. In the first step, registered candidates have to fill-in the necessary exam details like number of papers, choice of paper, choice of examination country and examination cities. The next step includes filling of personal details like name, date of birth, nationality, category, address, etc. In the third step, candidates have to enter their address, pin code, country, city/town, etc. The fourth step includes filling of qualifying degree details like degree name, college name and address, university name, etc. In the last step, aspirants have to upload their recent coloured photograph, signature and valid photo ID. All these documents must be according to the dimensions specified by the conducting body.

Candidates can pay the application fee after filling-up all the required details. They are asked to specify the mode of payment before paying the allotted fee. Candidates belonging to OBC/GEN category have to Rs. 1500 per paper. In the extended period, they have to pay Rs. 2000 per paper. SC/ST/PwD/Transgender/Female category candidates have to pay Rs. 750 per paper and Rs. 1250 per paper during the extended period. Candidates living in Addis Ababa, Colombo, Kathmandu and Dhaka have to US $50 per paper and US $70 for each paper during the extended period. Dubai and Singapore aspirants have to pay US $100 for each paper and US $120 per paper in the extended period.

The conducting body also provides correction facility to the candidates to rectify the error in the GATE Application Form. Students who have made mistakes in the form are notified through SMS/ email. However, this correction facility is available in few areas like name, date of birth, choice of paper, address, qualifying degree details, exam city, PwD details, etc. Candidates are also requested to visit the GOAPS website for any further queries or information regarding the application process.
