The National Board of Examination is all set to start the online registration and application process for the 2020 Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). As per the detailed schedule of the exam published on the official NBE website, the registration process is scheduled to start on July 08, 2020, from 03.00 PM onward. For those who are unaware, the FMGE exam is a screening test conducted by the NBE to qualify Indian/Overseas Citizens of India who have a Primary Medical Degree i.e. MBBS or equivalent from a foreign medical institute and aspires for provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council. As per the schedule released on July 07, 2020, the last date to register and apply for FMGE 2020 is July 22, 2020. After the conclusion of the online registration and application process, candidates will also be able to edit their applications. The application form editing window is scheduled to remain open on and from July 23 to July 25, 2020, for all applicants. The final editing window to rectify deficient scanned images of photographs, signature, and thumb impression on the application form is scheduled to open from August 10 to August 12, 2020. The last date of submission of deficient documents i.e. Proof of possessing Primary Medical Qualification, Eligibility Certificate/Admission Letter, and Identity Proof of Citizenship is August 20, 2020, till 11.55 PM.
The NBE has also announced the tentative dates for conducting the online Computer Based Test (CBT) and releasing the results of the test. The online CBT is scheduled to be conducted on August 31, 2020, in centers across the country. NBE will issue admit cards to eligible applicants on and from August 24, 2020. Subsequently, the results are scheduled to be published on September 20, 2020, at the NBE website. A demo test for the convenience of candidates to familiarise themselves with the exam will also be available on the NBE website from August 17, 2020, onwards. A candidate helpdesk number has also been provided in the detailed information brochure for the convenience of applicants which is 022-61087595. Candidates can call the helpdesk between 9.30 AM to 6.00 PM (Monday to Friday) on and from July 08 to September 20, 2020. On the exam day i.e. August 31, 2020, candidates can call the helpdesk between 7.00 AM to 7.00 PM.
The NBE conducts the FMGE screening test twice a year; once for the June session and again for the December session. In order to apply for the FMGE June 2020 session, candidates have to pay a fee of Rs 6490 which includes GST @18%. This fee is neither refundable nor transferrable. In addition, applications once submitted cannot be withdrawn. The CBT consist of a single paper of 300 objective type questions divided into two sections of 150 questions each. Candidates are allowed 150 minutes to complete the paper of each section with a scheduled break in between. There is no negative marking in the exam. It may be noted that the NBE will follow all necessary prevention and control measures to conduct the test. Social Distancing will be maintained and thermo-guns will be used to monitor body temperature.
