West Bengal Public Service Commission is inviting online applications to fill up 02 vacancies for the post of Industrial Chemist. The posts are vacant in the West Bengal General Service cadre under the Department of Labour, WB. A detailed recruitment notice (Advt No. 11/2020) in this regard has been published on the official website of the Commission i.e. wbpsc.gov.in. The online application process is starting on July 09, 2020, and will end on July 29, 2020, at the aforementioned website of the Commission. The last date of payment of fees offline in branches of UBI is July 30, 2020. However, payment challans must be generated latest by July 29, 2020, for offline payment of fees.
Among the 02 vacancies advertised, one vacancy is reserved for OBC-A (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. The Commission has indicated the minimum eligibility conditions to apply for the recruitment. Candidates must not be more than 36 years of age as on 01.01.2020. However, the upper age limit is relaxable for experienced & well-qualified candidates. SC/ST candidates can avail relaxations of up to 5 years while OBC candidates can avail relaxations of up to 3 years. For PWD candidates, the upper age limit is extendable to a maximum of 45 years. Applicants need to have a Second Class Master’s Degree in Chemistry from a recognized University/Institution in order to apply. Candidates with an equivalent degree are also eligible to apply. It is desirable that the candidates have experience in analytical and research work in the relevant field. It is mandatory for all applicants to be able to read, write, and speak in the Bengali language except for candidates, whose mother tongue is Nepali. The Commission will conduct tests of language proficiency and abilities during the time of the interview.
Upon final selection, candidates are appointed to the pay scale of Rs. 9,000 – 40,500 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 4,700/- and other allowances at the Pay Band 4. The selection of candidates will be primarily done through interviews. However, if a large number of applications are submitted, then the Commission might shortlist the applicants based on their parameters like qualification, marks, grade, etc. Additionally, there are also possibilities that the Commission may conduct a Preliminary Screening Test (PST) for the shortlisting of applicants. An application fee of Rs 160 must be paid to apply for the recruitment. In addition to the application fee, necessary and additional charges such as service charges and GST must be paid by the candidate as applicable.
