FDDI Cancels AIST 2020; Admission based on Qualifying Exam Marks

FDDI cancels All India Selection Test 2020. This decision has been taken in view of the COVID - 10 pandemic. Admission will now be based on marks of qualifying exam. Read more.

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Uttar Pradesh has cancelled the AIST 2020 examination due to COVID-19 outbreak in India. Initially, AIST 2020 was to be held on July 26, 2020, however, it now stands cancelled. The conducting body has now decided to offer admissions into B.Des / M.des / BBA / MBA courses in footwear design and merchandise etc on the basis of merit of the qualifying exam.

Candidates who have already filled their All India Selection Test (AIST) 2020 application form, now have to submit their qualifying exam marks starting from 5 PM onwards on July 15, 2020, to July 25, 2020. 

As per the official notice by FDDI, dated July 6, 2020, the criteria for undergraduate i.e BBA / B.Des admissions is aggregate percentage marks in Class 12 (or equivalent) / 3-year AICTE approved diploma. This is applicable to all categories like EWS / Gen / SC / ST etc. In case, there is any tie, then the older candidate will be given preference in the merit list for admission. 

For admissions into the M.Des / MBA course, candidates will be provided admissions on the basis of their aggregate percent marks in their graduation course. Again, if there is a tie in the marks of 2 candidates, then the older candidate will be ranked higher.

Candidates, who are still awaiting their final year / semester 6 result, can submit the marks until semester 5. Similarly, if the graduation degree is of 4 years, then candidates are allowed to submit their marks until the 4th year i.e semester 6. 

FDDI, will then release a merit list for both UG and PG courses seperately. Thereafter, the selected candidates will be assigned campus / college and their choice of programme as per the availability of seats in the FDDI. The new dates for FDDI counselling, release of seat allotment result will be announced in due course of time. 

FDDI i.e Footwear Design and Development Institute has a pan India presence and is recognized as an institute of national importance. It has 12 campuses in all. The programmes offered include MBA / B.des / M.des and BBA in the field of leather good accessories design, footwear design, fashion design, and retail merchandising. Many reputed companies like BATA, Marks and Spencers, Carlton London, Puma, Adidas, etc offer placements to meritorious and eligible students in FDDI.
