Defence Research and Development Organisation has published a recruitment notification to fill up vacancies for the posts of Graduate and Technician (Diploma) Apprentices. Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL) under DRDO is inviting applications for engagement of eligible candidates to fill up 70 vacancies for apprenticeship training at SSPL. The Laboratory has published an official notification in this regard at the DRDO website drdo.gov.in. Intending candidates can apply on the prescribed proforma available at the official website. The last date of receipt of applications is 15 days from the publication of the notification in Employment News.
Candidates who have completed Diploma in Engineering in specified disciplines can apply for engagement as an Apprentice Trainee for the financial year 2020-21. Vacancies are available for the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Diploma in MOP and Diploma in Library Science. Selected candidates are to be engaged in the post of Technician (Diploma) Apprentice for a period of 1 year.

However, those who have already undergone apprenticeship training before are not eligible to apply for this recruitment. Only those candidates who passed their qualifying diploma on or after the year 2018 can apply for this recruitment. Applicants must note that they are not entitled to claim for permanent recruitment after the completion of the training period.
Appointed candidates are entitled to receive a monthly stipend of Rs 8000. There are 10 vacancies available for each of the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, and Electronics Engineering. 15 vacancies are available for the discipline of Diploma in Computer Engineering. In addition, 15 vacancies are also available for Diploma in MOP (English & Hindi) while 10 vacancies are available for Diploma in Library Science discipline.
SSPL will not conduct any interview for this recruitment. Instead, eligible applicants are to be shortlisted purely on the basis of merit. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of percentage/marks of essential qualifications. A Board constituted by the Director of SSPL will scrutinize received applications and develop a shortlist of candidates based on the shortlisting criteria and availability of vacancies. Selected candidates are to intimated about the same through offer letter.
Candidates are to be engaged under the provisions of the Apprenticeship Act 1961 as per amendments in 1961, 1973 and 2014. The apprenticeship training is for a period of 1 year for the financial year 2020-2021.

Candidates have to register their candidature on National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) website i.e. portal.mhrdnats.gov.in. It is a mandatory criterion necessary to apply for the recruitment.
