The Combat Vehicles Research & Development Estt. (DRDO) in Avadi, Chennai is inviting applications for graduate and diploma apprentices. Candidates willing to apply can do so through the online mode on or before July 28, 2021. This one-year Apprenticeship training programme is hiring graduate/diploma holders in the field of engineering who hail from Tamil Nadu. Candidates should’ve passed their degree/diploma in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021, to be eligible to apply. The tenure of the training held under the Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act of 1973 is of one year.
Note that selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 9000 for Category I Graduate Apprentices and those belonging to Category II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 8000. Candidates who are willing to apply can do so by first enrolling themselves in the National Web Portal. To create an Enrollment Number, visit mhrdnats.gov.in and click on ‘Enroll’. Fill up the application form and generate the Enrollment Number.

Upon completion of the enrollment verification and approval process, the candidate will have to log in and click on ‘Establishment Request Menu’. At this point, one needs to find the Establishment and upload their resume. After choosing the Establishment name, type – ‘Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE)’ and click on the search button. Follow the next two steps by clicking on ‘Apply’ and ‘Apply again’. With this, the application process gets completed.
The online application process started on July 5, 2021, and the last date of enrolling in the NATS portal is July 20, 2021. Similarly, the last date to apply for the vacancies is July 28, 2021. The list of shortlisted candidates will be declared on July 30, 2021, while the certificate verification of the shortlisted candidates will be held on August 09, 2021.
There are three minimum educational qualifications for Category I Graduate Apprentice. Candidates having an Engineering or Technology degree from a Statutory University or a degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Act of Parliament empowered institution can apply for the position. Not only that but a graduate examination of a Professional bodies degree will be considered equivalent to the above.
Similarly, candidates willing to apply for Category II Technician (Diploma) Apprentices can have a Diploma in Engineering or technology from a State Council or Board of Technical Education. Moreover, candidates having a Diploma in Engineering or Technology in a related discipline can also apply. Lastly, an Engineering or Technology Diploma degree from a State or Central Government aided institution will also hold equivalence to the above. The age requirement for these two posts is set as per Apprenticeship Rules. The shortlisting of candidates will be done by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR). The board will focus on the percentage of marks obtained in the above-mentioned disciplines and will shortlist the candidates accordingly.
