The CSIR NET June 2021 exam is expected to be delayed till at least the middle of July 2021 on account of the recent increase in COVID-19 casualties in India. The official notification of the CSIR NET exam usually releases in mid April for the June session exam every year. However, there is yet no update on the official website i.e. csirnet.nta.nic.in regarding the conduct of the June 2021 exam although CSIR HRDG has indicated in latest tweets that the exam will be delayed this year. Candidates may note that UGC NET 2021 exam which was scheduled to be held in May 2021 has also been postponed by the National Testing Agency on account of the recent surge in COVID-19 casualties in India.
Incidentally, the NTA conducts both the UGC NET and CSIR NET exams for award of Junior Research Fellowship and/or eligibility for Lectureship/Assistant Professorship. Earlier, the NTA postponed the UGC NET Dec 2020 session (May 2021) exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. On the other hand, the official notification of the CSIR NET June 2021 exam, which was expected to release in mid-April, 2021 has also not come out yet.
CSIR NET authorities took to popular social media platform Twitter in March 2021 indicating that the conducting body will do everything possible to conduct the CSIR NET June 2021 exam as per conventional schedule and declare the exact date of the exam by mid-April, 2021. However, till now, there is little clarity over when the exam may be conducted this year.
As per most recent updates on the official Twitter account of CSIR HRDG, the June 2021 exam is likely to be delayed to at least the middle of July 2021. A snapshot of the tweet can be found below for reference.

In light of such developments in regard to the conduct of the CSIR NET June 2021 exams, it is now confirmed that the CSIR NET June 2021 exam will not be conducted till at least the middle of July 2021. Consequently, aspiring candidates can also expect a long wait before the official exam date is declared by the NTA and online registrations for the exam are started.
Both the CSIR NET and the UGC NET exams are conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency. In the previous year, the first session of the UGC NET exam was delayed on account of the pandemic. It was not until November that the first session exam could be completed for all subjects. Consequently, the second session exam (December 2020) was also delayed and was scheduled to be held in May 2021 until recently, when the NTA postponed the exam again amidst the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
