Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) threw an interesting surprise for all students recently. While everyone was busy asking about the CBSE class 10, 12 datesheet 2020, the board published activity calendar at cbse.nic.in, and cbseacademic.in.
The activity calendar is a very useful document right now. Through it, CBSE tells about all its events from April 2019 to March 2020. It is in this six fold small brochure, that the exam dates of CBSE 2020 board exams are hidden!
Under the month of February 2020, one of the three events listed by the board is board examination 2020. For which, it says “The Board Examination, 2020 for class X and XII shall commence from 15th of Feb onwards. This time the major papers of class XII will also commence from Feb 2020 “.
Right below it, under March 2020 heading is again board examination 2020. Where it is stated ” The Board examination for class X and XII will continue to be held in the month of March, 2020 and will be completed by the end of the month.”
As per the last count of student registrations, CBSE anticipates 21,64,267 students to appear in the class 10th exams. Whereas 12,88,054 shall appear in the class 12th exams.
The key takeaways from the calendar are as follows. First of all, it is now officially confirmed that CBSE board exam 2020 will start on February 15, 2020 for both class 10 and 12. Secondly, they will conclude by the end of March month. Thirdly, the major exams of class 12 will also start on February 15, 2020.
However the importance of these dates do not end here.
It may be recalled that last year class 10 exams were held from February 21 to March 29. Whereas class 12 exams started on February 15 and ended on April 3. The board had announced the time table on December 24. Then the class 12 result was announced on May 2, and class 10 result was declared on May 6.
This year too, the exam dates are quite similar to the previous session. If anything, they are sooner. In that case, the board ought to publish time tables sooner and same goes for results.
Hence the activity calendar dates may also lead to the conclusion that CBSE datesheet class 10, 12 2020 will be available in December initial weeks, and that result will be by April end. Here, another interesting piece of information is worthy of pointing out. That is, as per reports CBSE will declare results within 20 days of exam.

It also says that in December, the board will launch a new website for CBSE. And in January, CBSE counselling will begin. For that it says ” Telephonic counselling is offered by trained counsellors and principals from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India. It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the counsellors and principals. This includes Pre-Examination psychological counselling services to students and parents and Counselling for Differently Abled Students. Support material in the form of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), tips to deal with exam related stress was uploaded in CBSE website for the students, parents, teachers and larger public”.
All said and done, the countdown for CBSE 2020 board exams have finally begun.
