Today is the last date to submit applications for Biotech Industrial Training Program 2020-21 conducted by Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology. BCIL is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for engagement into hands-on industrial training through BITP 2020-21 under DBT-Skill Vigyan. BITP 2020-21 Application Form is available online at the official website i.e. biotech.co.in. The online application process has already commenced on November 03, 2020. Candidates can submit the online application form till 05.00 PM today i.e. December 03, 2020. Admit cards for the selection test will be available from December 18, 2020, while the Computer Based Test will be conducted on January 03, 2021.
The BITP program is implemented by Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) since 1993-94 on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It is practical industrial training for candidates who have a Masters or Bachelors degree in Biotechnology. The 06 months training period is conducted by the selection of eligible applicants through a Computer Based Test. Selected candidates will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 10000 per month while the trainer company is paid a bench fee for covering the expenses of training.

As per the official notification, candidates who have a B.Tech or B.E. degree in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics are eligible to apply. Candidates who have a M.Tech or MBA degree in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics. In addition, those who have a M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology/Bioinformatics are also eligible to apply. Students admitted under DBT supported PG teaching programs are also eligible to apply. Those who are appearing in the final semester/year examination of qualifying degree exams can also apply. Candidates must have secured atleast 50% marks in the qualifying exam in 2018/19.
Selection of eligible applicants will be done through a Computer Based Test to be conducted in multiple cities/centres of the country. However, candidates must fulfil the eligibility conditions as specified above. Following the successful completion of the 6 months hand-on practical industrial training, candidates will have to undergo an online Assessment that is conducted by Life Science Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC). Those who qualify the Assessment will be awarded “Apprentice Certificate” under National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) by the Council.
BCIL conducts the training with the objective to provide industry-specific exposure to practical operations to suitable candidates in order to cater to their skill development needs. This significantly enhances their job opportunities in the BioTech industry. The syllabus of the test is as per the syllabus of M.Sc.
