Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) recently released the recruitment notification for a total of about 1679 vacancies. These positions are vacant for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled contractual manpower which shall be provided job training. Registration for the same began on April 01, 2021, and the last date to apply for the vacancy is April 20, 2021. The notification has also implied that candidates who have passed Class 8 from any state education board or equivalent institution can apply for the vacancy. BECIL recently released the advertisement numbered “BECIL/Job-Training/Advt.2021/01”. The advertisement was meant for the recruitment of approximately 1679 contractual manpower. The recruitment offers a total of 5 training programmes out of which one is specifically dedicated to semi-skilled candidates. The first four training programmes provide basic knowledge or concept of electrical equipment along with the use of personal protective equipment. Out of the four programmes, one lasts for 7 days, one lasts for 15 days while the remaining two last for 30 days. The cost of a 07-day course is Rs.6000, Rs.11,000 for a 15-day course and Rs.15,000 for 30-day courses. Only the 30-day courses offer a stipend during training. BECIL assures 100% guaranteed placement after training but it may not be at the candidate’s preferred location.
Out of the two 30-day courses, one is specifically for Class 8 pass-outs. These candidates shall be given the post of unskilled manpower after completing the course. The remaining three courses shall award candidates the post of skilled manpower after successful completion. The fifth programme is dedicated to semi-skilled individuals and has two bifurcations – Lipik and Sahayak Bijli Mistri/Bill man. Candidates must note that the training fee shall be accepted only after qualifying the merit test.
BECIL authorities have also specified the selection criteria to be applied for the recruitment process. Selection of candidates shall be done based on the merit list. Candidates scoring a minimum of 80% marks in the entrance exam shall be eligible for “Free Training”. Candidates scoring at least 70% marks in the exam shall be deemed eligible for paid training for basic concept and use of personal protective equipment. They are required to pay Rs.6,000 for this training programme.
Those who have scored a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply for paid training at acquiring basic knowledge of electrical equipment of 33/11 KV Sub-station along with safety measures. To avail this programme, candidates must pay Rs.11,000 as training costs.
Candidates who secure a minimum of 35% marks shall be deemed eligible for two programmes – S.No. 3 and 4. (mentioned in the advertisement attached above). These programmes shall provide basic knowledge of electrical equipment of 33/11 KV Sub-station along with safety measures. The training costs amount to Rs.15,000 along with a stipend of 15 days during the on-site training period.
To register for the programme, interested individuals have to pay a certain amount depending on their category. General and OBC category candidates must pay Rs.590 as a registration fee. SC, ST, PH candidates have to pay Rs.295 as a registration fee. Candidates must note that this fee is non-refundable.
