The Karnataka Government on Tuesday has announced that students will be enrolled in various professional courses based on the Karnataka Common Entrance Test exam 2021. Now the students seeking admission to the Undergraduate course will be selected based on the CET marks and rankings. The CET exam will take place as per schedule on August 28, 29 and 30, 2021.

Earlier, the admission to the undergraduate courses was based on the second-year pre-university exam grades or marks. However, all students are now promoted from II PUC (equivalent for class 12). Thus, the Government has decided to allot seats based on KCET marks. Students seeking admission to the academic session of 2021 under professional courses including medical, engineering, yoga and naturopathy, technology, farm science, and pharma courses will now have to appear for the KCET exam.
Deputy CM of Karnataka, CN Ashwathnarayan said that only CET marks will be considered for admissions. The admissions to the Engineering courses will be determined CET ranks based on the marks obtained in PCM in the entrance exam. The previous method considered PCM marks from the annual exam and KCET in equal proportions. “We are taking necessary measures for admissions of graduate college and other courses,” he further added.
As per the reports, the government is also planning to increase the number of seats available for admission. It is expected that in comparison to last year, 30% more students will be applying for undergraduate courses across the state. More than 2 lakh more students are expected to seek admission into various degree courses. The measures will be taken accordingly.
The online registrations for KCET 2021 Exam will commence from June 15, 2021. Aspirants should submit their KCET application form before the last date of the submission. Ashwathnarayan has explained that this year the minimum eligibility marks criteria required to take the KCET exam is relaxed. Earlier this year, students who had secured a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics were eligible to appear for the CET exam. This year, due to pandemic, the minimum marks requirement is relaxed.
KCET 2021 Exam will be organized as per schedule on August 28, 29 and 30, 2021 at more than 500 test centres. The first day of the exam (August 28, 2021) will be for Biology and Mathematics subject. Exams for Physics and Mathematics will be held on August 29, 2021. The Kannada exam for Gadinadu and Horanadu Kannadigas will take place on August 30, 2021.
