Zoological Survey of India has published an official recruitment notification to fill up temporary vacancies for the posts of Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow. Advt No 210-2/2020/Tech./JRF-SRF, Dated September 01, 2020, is available at the official website i.e. zsi.gov.in. As per the advertisement, there are 20 vacancies available altogether. Eligible and intending candidates may apply on the prescribed format also available at the official website. The last date of receipt of applications along with enclosure of supporting documents is one month from the date of publication of the advertisement. However, candidates domiciled in remote areas as identified in the notification can send their applications within 40 days from the date of the advertisement.
As per the aforementioned recruitment advertisement, the vacancies are available for the posts of JRF and SRF on a temporary contractual basis. This means that the maximum tenure of employment in these positions is for a period of 03 years. JRFs will be promoted to the SRF position after completing the initial two years time depending on performance and assessment through the Expert Committee. However, appointed candidates will be terminated after the completion of the project. JRFs are entitled to a monthly salary of Rs 12000 while SRFs are entitled to a monthly salary of Rs 14000. In addition, both posts include admissible HRA as part of the total remuneration.
Candidates must conform to the prescribed minimum eligibility conditions before applying for the recruitment. The maximum age of applicants for JRF post is 28 years while for SRF post, the upper age limit is 32 years as on the last date of application. Relaxations are however applicable on the age limitations as per Government rules in vogue. Candidates having a Master’s degree in Zoology/Life Sciences with 55% marks and Zoology as a major subject in undergraduate degree are eligible to apply for the post of Junior Research Fellow. Candidates who have a minimum of one publication in SCI Journal and minimum 2 years of post-M.Sc. research experience in addition to the aforementioned qualifications is eligible to apply for the post of Senior Research Fellow. Initial shortlisting of eligible applicants is conducted on the basis of qualification and experience. Thereafter, shortlisted candidates are called for interview and selection. Communication regarding the interview is to be done through email or speed post. Candidates are entitled to be reimbursed Second Class Railway fare to and fro from the place of residence to the venue of interview. However, there will be no provisions for accommodation.
The proforma for applications is appended with the detailed advertisement published by the Zoological Society of India. Candidates must fill-up the applications in the prescribed proforma only and send it to The Director, Zoological Society of India, M-Block, New Alipore, Kolkata by Speed Post or Registered Post only. Candidates must not forget to superscribe the name of the post applied for on the envelope. Candidates must also deposit an application fee of Rs 400 in the form of A/C Payee Bank Demand Draft in favour of Pay and Accounts Officer (BSI/ZSI), 234/4 AJC Bose Road, Nizam Palace Complex, Kolkata-20. The application fee for OBC candidates is Rs 200 while for SC/ST candidates it is Rs 100.
