West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) will conduct the WB Police Excise Constable prelims exam on Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 12 noon to 1 pm. Admit card for the same has been hosted at wbpolice.gov.in as well as excise.wb.gov.in. Candidates who had applied to compete for the recruitment can download admit card with their application serial number, and date of birth.
With days, and soon hours to go for the exam, test takers need to shake off the exam day jitters and gear up to perform their best in the 1 hour. All 100 questions will be objective, with 25% negative marking for wrong answers. Thus the first and foremost point to remember is to focus on speed and accuracy – solve as many questions as possible, with least errors. Between Ram and Shyam, if both have marked 60 answers, but Ram has marked 50 correct, and Shyam marked 49, then Ram will score 2.7% more than Shyam.
The test will have 100 MCQs. Test of Bengali / Nepali language will be of 50 marks, and the general awareness and reasoning section will be of 50 marks as well. So both will be equally important to qualify.
For the excise constable in West Bengal Police post, candidates with madhyamik pass qualification were invited to apply. As such, the exam will be of such a level as expected from the prescribed educational qualification. Textbooks to brush up on language skills of such level should thus be used to brush up skills.
General awareness and reasoning section can be quite scoring, by the practice of GA and reasoning questions. Whereas until a few years ago, the only way to do it was to solve questions from books, now, job seekers can refer any police exam question bank online and improve their solving abilities of such questions.
With regards to this section, it is also recommended to watch youtube videos where mentors talk about tips and tricks of solving reasoning questions quickly. Although there are thousands of reasoning questions, they are all ultimately of a few types only, and for each type of question, there is some or the other way to quickly solve the questions.
An often disregarded matter is sleep schedule. The exam will be in the afternoon. Those who are used to sleeping late everyday and waking up late in the afternoon, or taking mid-day naps, may find it problematic to stay awake and alert in the exam timings. Thus it is advisable to rectify sleeping schedule in the last day, so that in the exam, best performance is delivered.
All said and done, all the preparations will go down the drain if either correct documents are not taken to center, or arriving late, or arriving in wrong clothes. It is mandatory to carry the WB Police Excise Constable admit card 2019 to the center, with identity proof. As regards to the dress code, the board clearly says “The candidates are strongly advised against wearing sports shoes, sneakers, high heeled footwear or any other kind of shoes for they will be refused entry into the venue of the test. They shall wear flat footwear such as plain leather or polyurethane footwear or slippers without any metal embellishments or accessories.” West Bengal Police also adds, “The candidates are also advised to follow the instructions given on their Admit Card and visit the websites on a regular basis”.
