The UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) is scheduled to be conducted from September 16 this year. As per the rescheduled course of the event announced by the NTA earlier, the Computer Based Test is scheduled to be conducted from September 16 to 18, 2020 and September 21 to 25, 2020. However, the admit cards for the exam is yet to be released even when there are only two days left before the exam starts. The NTA usually issues the admit card, well in time, for the UGC NET and other exams. Admit cards are issued around 2-3 weeks before the exam. However, in this case of the 2020 UGC NET exam, candidates are still waiting to see if the admit cards are released today or tomorrow just before the exam day.
The National Testing Agency announced the conduct of the UGC NET 2020 exam earlier this year. The exam is conducted twice a year once in June and then in December. It is conducted for determining the eligibility of applicants for Assistant Professorship or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professorship. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the June session of the exam was delayed and is now being conducted in September as per the latest official exam date updates. The exam as a computer-based test was initially scheduled to be conducted from June 15 to 20, 2020 for the June 2020 session. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the nation, the NTA postponed the exam and later announced the new exam dates.
As per the notice of the rescheduled events of the NTA to be conducted this year, besides the exam dates of UGC NET 2020, the agency also indicated that the admit cards for the respective exam will be made available 15 days before the exam. Yet, there are only two days left before the exam date and applicants are speculating any possibilities of the NTA postponing/cancelling the exam once again. Earlier through the release of the rescheduled exam date of the UGC NET 2020 at the official website, the NTA also indicated that the admit cards will be available 15 days before the date of the exam.
UGC NET 2020 admit card is a mandatory document that must be carried to the exam centre on the day of the exam. In order to gain access to the designated exam centre, candidates have to produce the hard copy of the admit card downloaded from the official UGC-NTA website. It contains information such as the date, time, schedule and venue of the exam. Besides, the admit card also contains candidate details such as Roll Number and important instructions for the exam. It is recommended that candidates download it as soon as it is released before the exam commences the day after tomorrow as scheduled unless otherwise notified by the NTA.
