Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has announced the exam date for Tata Institute of Social Sciences National Entrance Test (TISSNET) 2020. The entrance exam for MA admissions for the academic year 2020-22 batch will be held on January 04, 2020 from 2 pm to 3.40 pm.
The announcement has been made at tiss.edu >> Admissions >> Master in Arts Program >> About MA Programmes.
On the same page where exam date has been published, it is also mentioned “To go to the Online Application Form, please visit M.A. > Admission Process > How to Apply”. On the instructed page, there is a link to apply online.
However, on clicking the link, it shows that registration is closed. To sort out the matter, we contacted the officials at their helpline number where an official confirmed that the TISSNET 2020 application form will be released by the end of October 2019 at tiss.edu.
TISSNET is the national common written test for MA admissions in TISS. For the final selection, 100 marks are assigned to the test, 50 marks to pre-interview test and GD, and 75 to personal interview. There is no negative marking in TISSNET. 40% weightage is given to NET, 30% to PIT, and 30% to PI.
The exam will be held in 40 cities. In the northern region it will be held at Chandigarh, Dehradun,New Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi, Greater Noida, Jammu, Srinagar. In eastern region the cities are Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Dimapur, Silchar.
Then in western region, TISSNET will be held at Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Solapur, Navi-Mumbai, Thane. And it will be held at Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode in the southern region.
To apply for the entrance exam, candidates should have completed Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree of minimum of 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent. Some courses have programme-specific eligibility criteria that can be checked from the official website of TISSNET 2020. Candidates who are in the final year can also apply for TISSNET 2020, given that they have passed all the previous year semester exams and they submit their final result by September 2020.
Candidates can apply for TISSNET 2020 through the online application form only released at the Institute’s website. To apply online, the candidate has to register with a valid email id. A password will be sent to the candidate’s email id which is to be used to login and to fill in details in the application form. Candidates can pay the application fee (depending on the number of programmes applied) either by depositing cash in any branch of SBI or through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking. Scan and upload photograph, signature, mark sheet of the last exam passed and other necessary certificates during the time of filling in details in the form.
Registered candidates will be issued the admit card between December 18 and 19, 2019. TISSNET is a computer-based test consist of multiple-choice questions from General Awareness, English Proficiency, and Maths & Logical Reasoning.
Candidates are shortlisted for admission based on their performance in the National Entrance Test, Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview. In case if a candidate is selected for more than one programme, then in such a case, admission will be offered to the programme higher in the order of preference.
