PPSC has extended the last date to apply online and submit fees for the Punjab Civil Service Exam 2020

Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) is all set to conduct the 2020 state civil services exam to fill up 77 advertised vacancies. The detailed advertisement for the 2020 Punjab Civil Service Exam is available online at the official website i.e. ppsc.gov.in. Initially, the online application process was scheduled to end on June 30, 2020. However as per the latest updates on the website, the last date to apply for the Punjab Civil Service recruitment exam 2020 is July 30, 2020. In addition, the Commission has also extended the last date of submission of fee by system generated fee challan. The last date of submission of the application fee is August 06, 2020. Furthermore, the preliminary stage exam is scheduled to be conducted tentatively in September 2020.

PPSC is conducting the 2020 state civil service exam to fill up 77 vacancies. As per the official notification, the vacancies are for posts in Punjab Civil Service (Executive) (20), Deputy Superintendent of Police (26), Tehsildar (05), Food Supply & Consumer Affairs Officer (02), Block Development & Panchayat Officer (02), Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies (04), Labor & Conciliation Officer (01), Employment Generation & Training Officer (07), and Deputy Superintendent Jails/District Probation Officer Grade II (10). Eligible applicants have to appear in two stages of exams i.e. the preliminary exam and the main exam before they are selected through a final interview.

Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the Punjab Civil Services 2020 exam. In addition, applicants must have passed their Matriculation exam with Punjabi as a subject. In terms of the age limit, candidates must have attained the age of 21 years as on 01.01.2020. Candidates should be less than 37 years of age as on the specified date in order to apply for the recruitment. Relaxations on the upper age limit are applicable for candidates belonging from special reserved categories as indicated in the official advertisement.

The application process for the Punjab Civil Services 2020 exam is conducted online and no other modes of application are accepted by the PPSC. Candidates are required to pay the specified fee and register & apply online in order to complete the application process. SC/ST of all states and BC candidates of Punjab are required to pay a total fee of Rs 1125 that includes RS 500 as an online application charge and Rs 625 as exam fee. Ex-servicemen of Punjab has to pay only the application fee of Rs 500. Physically handicapped candidates of the state of Punjab have to pay a fee of Rs 1750 which includes Rs 500 as application fee and Rs 1250 as examination fee. All other candidates (including descendants of Ex-Serviceman and EWS) have to pay a total fee of Rs 3000 which includes Rs 500 as the application charge and Rs 2500 as the exam fee. The application forms must be accurately filled up and necessary documents as specified in the detailed advertisement must be uploaded along with the application form.

The selection of eligible candidates is initially done through a Preliminary stage exam. As intimated by the PPSC through the official website, the Preliminary stage exam consists of two papers of General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test. Each paper carries 200 marks in total. There are 100 objective type questions in Paper-1 and 80 objective type questions in Paper-2. Candidates are allowed 2 hours to complete the test for each paper. Although there is no negative marking in the exam, candidates submitting false/frivolous objections against the answer keys are liable to get marks deducted.
