Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) recently announced the postponement of the Class 10 and 12 board examination 2021 by nearly a month. Authorities went on release the revised date sheet on their official website pseb.ac.in. Board examination for both classes also comprising of categories like compartment, performance-enhancement and re-appearance including the exams of open school all have been postponed. The primary reason driving this postponement is the rising COVID-19 cases in the state of Punjab, PSEB clarified through an official statement.
Previously, the Punjab Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021 were scheduled to begin on April 09 and March 22, 2021, respectively. However, due to rising COVID-19 cases in the state, Class 10 exams shall now be held from May 04, 2021. Class 12 board examination is scheduled from April 20, 2021. Clearly, the authorities have decided nearly a month-long postponement of board exams.
PSEB also announced the timings for the respective board exams. Exam of Class 10 will begin at 10:00 am and end at 1:15 pm, whereas the Class 12 examination shall begin at 2:00 pm and end at 5:15 pm. Moreover, these exams shall be organised in specific centres established by PSEB. Students shall be notified about these centres at the time of receiving their exam roll numbers. PSEB has also released the revised date sheet incorporating all these changes on their official website pseb.ac.in.
According to the revised date sheet, Class 10 board exams shall commence from May 04, 2021, and shall go on till May 24, 2021, with a few days off in between for preparation. The first exam is for the Punjabi language whereas the board exams shall end with mathematics subject. Similarly, the Class 12 board examination shall begin from April 20, 2021, and shall go on till May 24, 2021, with a few days off in-between. Philosophy and accountancy exams shall be conducted on the first day whereas the board exams shall end with Sociology subject.
Recently, the state of Punjab witnessed a surge in daily and weekly COVID-19 cases. On March 15, the state reported a total of 1,492 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally of active cases in the state close to 11,550. The total cases reported in the state stand at 1,97,775 and 20 deaths were reported yesterday, The report further implied that the state witnessed a rise in the total weekly cases of 3,149.
Approximately 6.40 lakh students shall be appearing for the Punjab Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021. Candidates are advised to save, download or take a print-out of the revised date sheet for their convenience. The document is available on the official website pseb.ac.in.
