National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will soon start their admission 2020-21 session with the release of online application form on nift.ac.in today, October 23, 2019. The prospectus for admisison was released yesterday, October 22, 2019, in which the admission form release date, dates for the entrance exams and detailed admission guide was published.
The application form will be available in the online mode only and candidates are required to fill only one application form to apply for admission in any of the 15 campuses of NIFT. The 15 campuses of NIFT are:
1- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata
2- National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi
3- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhopal
4- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Hyderabad
5- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai
6- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar
7- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai
8- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru
9- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneshwar
10- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Jodhpur
11- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kangra
12- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Patna
13- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Raebarelli
14- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong
15- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Srinagar
To apply for admision in any of these campuses, the applicants have to fill in the online applicationf orm and submit the same with an application fee of Rs. 2000 for the general, OBC, EWS candidates and Rs. 1000 for SC, ST, PWD candidates.
The programmes available in the NIFTs are B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, MFM, and M.FTech.
In B.Des the sepcialisations are – Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, Fashion Communication. In B.F.Tech there is only one specialisation that is (Apparel Production).
In masters the specialisations available are M.Des.(Master of Design), M.F.M.(Master of Fashion Management) and M.FTech.(Master of Fashion Technology).
The admission test for B.Des courses is Creative Ability Test (CAT – 50%), general ability test (GAT – 30%), and situation test (20%) and for B.FTech, there will be GAT. However for admission in M.Des will be through CAT (40%), GAT (30%), GD/PI (30%). MFM admissions require GAT (70%) and GD/PI (30%). M.FTech admission will be through GAT (70%), GD/PI (30%).
CAT and GAT will be held on January 19, 2020 across 32 cities in India in offline mode. Exam will be held in 2 time slots, which are as follows:
10 AM to 1 PM – Test for B.Des, M.Des, BFTech, MFTech, MFM courses
2.30 PM to 4.30 PM – Test for B.Des, M.Des courses
Out of all the 15 campuses of NIFT, National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi is the oldest campus established in 1986. NIFT Kolkata, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Mumbai were set up in 1995. Bengaluru campus came into existance in 1997. Bhopal, Bhubneshwar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Raebareli, Srinagar and Shillong campuses are th newest campuses of NIFT.
