CBSE extends deadlines for Single Girl Child Scholarship 2019

Both, for renewal of scheme, and for fresh applications.

CBSE extends deadlines for Single Girl Child Scholarship 2019

According to the latest notice published by CBSE the last date to apply for CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for +2 studies has been extended for fresh applicants until October 31, 2019 as well as for the renewal of earlier scholarship awarded in class 10th till November 25, 2019 for the single girl child class 10th pass awarded in 2018. Eligible NRI and Indian candidates can apply for the scholarship on the official website of CBSE which is cbse.nic.in under the scholarship portal. Class 10th roll number and date of birth is needed to apply online. 

For renewing the previous scholarship candidates have to send the print out of the application form along with an attested copy of class 11th marksheet, aadhar number (if any), and bank pass book/ signed cancelled cheque in an envelope stating “Application for CBSE merit scholarship for SGC X (Renewal-2018)” to Assistant Secretary (Scholarship), CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2 Community Care, Preet Vihar, Delhi 110092.

To avail the scholarship, students should have secured at least 60% or more marks in CBSE class 10th examination and for renewal the marks obtained should be 50% or more in class 11th and promoted to class 12th, studying in CBSE affiliated school whose tuition fee is not more than Rs. 1,500 p.m. for the Indian nationals. And for NRI applicants it has been decided upto Rs. 6,000 per month. It must be noted that only the Single Girl who is the only child of their parents will be eligible. 

Girl student applying first time for the scholarship must note that selection procedure of the applications is based upon the 60% marks secured in class X and attachment of the original affidavit duly attested by the First Class Judicial Magistrate/SDM/Executive Magistrate/Notary and also the undertaking attested by the school principal of the student pursuing class XI. The format of both the documents are available on the Board’s website. 

A scholarship awarded under the scheme is paid for a maximum period of two years with a rate of scholarship being Rupees Five Hundred (Rs. 500) per month. The payment will be done through Electronic Clearance Service (ECS)/NEFT provided the students mentions the bank account details as account number, NEFT/RTGS code and bank address. 

For continuing availing the benefit of the scholarship all the conditions laid down by the board should be satisfied. Out of those provided above the other major condition is that the total enhancement of tuition fee for the academic year should not be more than 10% of the tuition fee i.e Rs. 1,500. 

CBSE initiated the merit scholarship scheme for single girl child to encourage girls who are the only child of the family to complete their school education. In the words of the board, “The objective of CBSE merit scholarship scheme is to provide scholarships to the meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents; and have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 60% or more marks and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII. The scheme is aimed to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students.”
