NEET is the national level entrance exam for admission to Post Graduate Dental Surgery program across dental colleges in India. It was conducted by the National Board of Examinations in December 2020. The results of the exam were declared on the last day of the same year. NBE also released individual NEET MDS 2021 scorecards in January 2021. Qualifiers of the exam now have to get through the counselling sessions for allocation of seat in medical colleges.
The NBE has not specified any particular date of commencement of the admission counselling. However, as per latest media reports, it may be another four to five months wait, before the NEET MDS 2021 admission counselling can start. The reason behind such a long delay has been revealed by media sources.
As per government officials, the Dental Council of India shares a common counselling schedule with the National Medical Commission. The counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) which uses a common software to conduct both admissions. NMC’s admission are thus linked and as per reports, it will be difficult to de-link these counselling of these examinations.
NEET MDS 2021 qualifiers are reportedly demanding for the admission to be de-linked from PG medical counselling so that it can be conducted independently. On the other hand, if the NEET MDS 2021 admission is conducted now, PG aspirants may reportedly oppose it.
The NEET PG 2021 is yet to be conducted as the examination has been recently postponed due to the pandemic. NBE earlier scheduled the NEET PG 2021 examinations to be held on April 18, 2021. However, the exam has been postponed till August 31, 2021. Therefore, NEET MDS 2021 qualifiers will have to wait. Counselling for NEET MDS 2021 admissions are therefore expected only after the NEET PG 2021 results are out.
