NEET 2022 (UG) grows in numbers – 18 Lakh plus to-be Doctors applied, 2.57 L higher than last time

Out of the 18.72 lakh NEET 2022 aspirants, over 10.64 lakh are women while 8.07 lakh are men, as observed in the official statistics. the pan-India exam is set to be held across 557 exam cities, including 14 centres located abroad.

NEET 2022 18 Lakh Plus Candidates Apply

In an unprecedented scene of events, more than 18 lakh candidates have registered for the singular UG medical entrance exam i.e., NEET UG 2022. As per official data, 18,72 lakh aspirants are expected to appear for this year’s entrance exam, crossing last year’s record of 16 lakh+ figure. The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 exam is all set to be conducted on July 17, 2022, in 13 distinct languages. Test will be held for a duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes i.e., from 2:00 pm to 5:20 pm. Despite multiple requests, NEET 2022 will follow the OMR-based pen-and-paper mode and will be held on a single day.

Comparing to 2021 statistics

Last year the NEET UG examination was held on a nationwide-level, on September 12, 2022. As many as, 16.14,777 candidates had successfully applied for the UG medical entrance exam. Looking at this year’s figures, the exam witnessed a growth of 2.57 lakh candidates.

Out of the total registered, 15,44,275 candidates took the test resulting in the exam attendance of 95%. Around 3,858 centres had been allotted to conduct this exam while ensuring the implementation of COVID-19 protocols.

Among the total registered for NEET 2022, 771 aspirants are foreigners, 647 are overseas Indian citizens and 910 are NRIs, according to official census. Unsurprisingly, most aspirants have opted for English language. Hindi and Tamil occupy second and third positions in terms of language preference.

NEET 2022 Admit Card & Advance City Intimation

Only yesterday, May 27, 2022, the NEET 2022 correction window was closed. So, aspirants will not be able to make any further changes in their submitted form. Next in schedule is the release of admit card and advance city intimation. Dates for releasing both are yet to be announced by the agency.

The NEET 2022 advance city intimation shall be issued to each registered candidate on neet.nta.nic.in. This document will specify the exam city allotted and will be issued prior to admit card.

Although not officially confirmed, the NEET 2022 admit card is likely to release 6-10 days prior to exam date. So, candidates may get access to their hall tickets between July 07-11, 2022.
