With merely 11 days left for the NEET 2022 examination, the students have started a new protest demanding the deferment of the examination. Earlier, the agency has announced that the NEET 2022 exam shall be held on July 17, 2022. However, it didn’t go with a lot of students who are now asking the agency to push the dates by two months. Amid these demands, a group of students have warned that they will go on hunger strike if their demands are not met. Earlier, on July 01, 2022 the students have organised a candle march.
What is the NEET 2022 Crisis?
Today, a group of students took to Twitter demanding deferment of the NEET 2022 examination. The major reason behind this whole fiasco was the date clash between NEET 2022, CUET 2022 and JEE Mains 2022. The agency has scheduled all three exams on a single day thus evoking a problem for those who have applied for all three exams. The students have also started an online protest citing deferment as it is affecting their exam preparation. With this in mind, at least 10, 000 students have written to PM Modi to listen to their demands.
Another reason the students are protesting is the counselling schedule of NEET 2021. The counselling for the last year’s exams was over a few days back and students who have participated in that do not get time to prepare for the NEET 2022 examination.
What are the Students Saying?
As the NEET crisis gained momentum the students started a Twitter protest early this morning tagging the Prime Minster and NTA. They have been using hashtags, #NEETUGCHALOMODI AWAS and #MODIAWASNAHIDOOR. The students have been requesting the PM to look into the matter and listen to their demands. A group of students have also warned that if their demands are not met then they will be left with only a choice but to go on hunger strike.
Before the students, several Medical professionals have advocated postponing the examination by at least one month. However, their request was not listened to or considered.
For the unversed NEET is the leading medical entrance exam conducted in the country annually. This year at least 18.72 lakhs students have applied for the examination which is itself a big record.
