Several reports are floating around after a senior NTA official gave a confirmed date for NEET 2022 examination. According to the official, the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 is all set to be conducted on July 17, on a nationwide level. This date was supposedly decided after consultation with the National Medical Commission (NMC), Education Ministry as well as Health Ministry. For the test scheduled in July 2022, eligible candidates can fill-up the form starting April 02, 2022. An official notification confirming the same is likely to be issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Interestingly, NTA, the conducting body of NEET UG examination is yet to issue any public notice announcing the exam date. Usually, when the date is fixed, a notice is issued immediately. So that students receive firsthand information from the horse’s mouth rather than statements by officials. This year, however, things have panned-out differently as the news of the exam date went viral after an influx of news reports.
The question remains, whether or not this news can be believed? The NEET UG 2022 exam date was announced by a senior NTA official. Hence, candidates can rely on this update while waiting for a confirmation from the agency.
NEET 2022 – What were the exam date predictions?
Before this important update made headlines today, March 31, 2022, several predictions surrounding the NEET 2022 exam date were floating around. While some predicted the exam to be conducted in the third week of June 2022, others placed their bets on July 2022. However, there was a unanimous prediction that the application process shall commence in the first week of April 2022.
NEET 2022 – Deadline to Apply Likely in May 2022
According to a report published by the Times of India dated March 31, 2022 –
The registration period is likely to remain open till May 7 and a five-day correction window will be opened in mid-May.
Accordingly, the NEET 2022 application process is expected to take place from April 02 to May 07, 2022. The process shall be organized through the online mode, on the official website neet.nta.nic.in. Thereafter, candidates who successfully register for the entrance exam shall be able to access the correction window most likely from May 15 to 20, 2022.
Although this is a tentative schedule reiterated by major news portals, an official confirmation from NTA is awaited.
16,14,777 candidates registered for NEET 2021
Last year, an unprecedented 16,14,777 candidates had registered for the NEET examination. Out of which, 95.6% candidates had appeared for the test, through the pen-and-paper mode, at selected centres across the country. As many as 8,70,074 candidates amounting to 56.4% qualified the test. A similar response is expected this year, for the upcoming NEET 2022 examination.
