One question is still unanswered for NEET 2020, i.e what will happen to the students who could not appear for NEET on September 13? Many such students wrote to NTA regarding this, and the officials have said that necessary action will be taken soon. Students with a genuine reason like suffering from COVID or flood in their areas shall be allowed for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).
For JEE Main, NTA first declare the result and then conducted the entrance exam for the remaining candidates. As per the newspaper reports, for JEE Main, students were given notice for the exam date late at night on their registered email id, the admit card was issued the next day and then a day after the exam was conducted. Probably, the same shall be done for NEET COVID-19 +ve candidates as well.

NEET 2020 result will be declared online at ntaneet.nic.in or nta.ac.in. To check the result, students will have to log in by entering their roll number and date of birth. It consists of personal details of the candidate as well as exam details like subject-wise percentile score obtained, total marks obtained, AIQ rank, cut-off percentile score and percentile, etc.
An All India Merit List is prepared for the qualified candidates on the basis of All India Rank in the Merit List of the NEET (UG) – 2020. Based on their AIR, they will be offered admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses. This year, the total number of MBBS seats under NEET 2020 has increased with AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS seats. As per the reports available, there are a total 1,18,316 MBBS & BDS Seats available in India for medical UG courses.
Once the result is declared, qualified candidates will have to appear for NEET counselling. It is to be noted that the counselling for admission in AIQ seats is done by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) whereas counselling for admission in 15% AIQ seats is done by the state counselling authorities. The role of NTA is only limited to conducting, releasing of NEET result 2020 and preparation of the merit list. Qualifiers in NEET 2020 entrance exam will be then eligible to participate in the counselling process which will be conducted at both state and national level.
