Maharashtra Police to recruit law graduates to fill up multiple law officer vacancies on contractual basis

Maharashtra Police is inviting applications from law graduates for recruitment into 30 vacancies of Law Officer (Grade B) & Law Officer on a contractual basis. The last date of receipt of offline applications in the prescribed proforma is June 30, 2020. A detailed advertisement and the application proforma are published at the official website of the Maharashtra Police i.e. mahapolice.gov.in. The vacancies are advertised in the establishment of Special Inspector General of Police in Nanded, Parbhani, Latur, and Hingoli of the state of Maharashtra.

The 30 total vacancies are bifurcated among the posts of Law Officer (Grade B) and Law Officer. The Law Officer (Grade B) vacancies are bifurcated across the four regions with one vacancy available in each region. On the other hand, the 26 vacancies of Law Officer are bifurcated across the aforementioned regions with 10 vacancies in Nanded, 06 vacancies in Parbhani, 07 vacancies in Latur, and 03 vacancies in Hingoli.

In order to apply for recruitment into the aforementioned vacancies, candidates must ensure that they meet the minimum eligibility conditions. In this context, the Maharashtra Police has specifically indicated in the notification that candidates’ maximum age must not exceed 60 years. In addition, candidates must be holding a graduate degree in law from a recognized University. In terms of experience, candidates must also have experience in a relevant role in a government agency with involvement in the handling of legal work and in-depth knowledge of criminal administration and service law. At least, 05 years of experience in such a profile is required to apply for the post. In addition, adequate knowledge of the Marathi, Hindi and English language and adequate computer knowledge is also required to apply for the posts.

Candidates must download the detailed advertisement and the prescribed proforma from the official website of Maharashtra Police. An application fee of Rs 500 must be deposited through a demand draft. The prescribed application form must be filled up in person and forwarded to the relevant authorities through postal means. The enclosure of documents must include the receipt of the demand draft, the filled up and signed application form, two self-addressed envelopes with affixed postage stamps, and self-attested copies of necessary testimonials/documents. The application form must be attached with two recent color photographs of the dimensions of 2.5cm x 2.5cm.

The appointment of selected candidates to these posts is made on a purely contractual basis and the appointed candidates are not considered as government employees. The initial period of appointment is for 11 months, following which, the contract term can be renewed and extended only till three times, each for a limited period of 11 months. The selection of eligible candidates is done through a written test and interview. The schedule and details of the exam and interview are to be communicated in due course of time. Candidates appointed to the post of Legal Officer (Grade B) are entitled to draw monthly payment of Rs 25000 + Rs 3000 (for Telephone and Travel expenses). Candidates appointed to the post of Legal Officer are entitled to draw monthly compensation of Rs 20000 + Rs 3000 (Telephone and Travel expenses).
