The much awaited Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2019 mock test for the aptitude test has been released on the official website, kvpy.iisc.ernet.in. IISc Bangalore will be conducting the KVPY 2019 on the upcoming Sunday that is November 03, 2019. Students who are in class 11, 12 and in first year of their undergraduate studies can participate in the test.
Students can access the KVPY mock test 2019 by going to kvpy.iisc.ernet.in >> applications. On that page, is the link to launch mock test against the text that says “mock computer based test of KVPY aptitude test”.
Upon clicking the mock test link, a login page opens. There is no need to fill anything here, pre-filled dummy data appears on the page that says 11111 in the first field and some random password is given in the second field. Simply clicking sign in button is all that is required on this page.
Signing in leads to the instructions page for KVPY mock test. A similar instructions page will be displayed in the exam on the actual exam day. Here, one can see the exam duration (180 minutes), how to mark answers and how to navigate through questions. During the exam, the clock that appears on screen will be a common one for all test takers, and as soon as the timer reaches zero, the test will end by itself.
The mock test instructions page also explains the question palette. If question number is in a white colored square box then student has not visited the question yet. A red shape means question has not been answered. A green shape on the other hand means answered. A circular purple shape means that student has not answered the question but marked for review. Whereas a purple circle on which there is a green box also means that student has answered the question and also marked for review. Please note that answered and marked for review questions will be considered for evaluation.
Clicking the > arrow against the question palette will collapse or hide it, doing which, the test taker can see the question itself on a larger screen. To see the question palette again, simply click the < button.
During the exam, candidates can click the profile image on top right corner of screen to change the language of exam for the whole question paper.
To jump from one question to another, candidates have to click the question number in the question palette. It is critical to note that by clicking on a question number, your previous answer remains unsaved. To save an answer, one has to click the save and next button. To mark for review, the button mark for review and next has to be clicked.
For answering a question, candidates have to click the round button against that option. To remove the answer, click clear response button. In order to change option, click on the other option.
Test takers can also jump from section to section. The name of sections are shown at the top of the screen. The section being attempted is highlighted at that time. There will be images also in the KVPY 2019 computer based aptitude test. To view them better, candidates can roll over it.
The selection of the candidates will be at a national level and in 2 stages. Out them, the first stage is a computer-based aptitude test. The candidates who will qualify this stage will move on to the second level which is the interview. The level 1 exam will be held all across India. At all centers the exam will be held in 2 shifts. The morning shift will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon shift will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm. There will be negative marking in the exam as well.
KVPY 2019 SA stream exam will have 20 questions – 15 in part I for 1 mark each, and rest in part 2 for 2 marks each. Each part has four sections physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics. In KVPY 2019 test for SB and SC, there are four sections in both part 1 and 2 – physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics. As per the mock test, candidates have to answer any three subjects in part 1 and any two in part 2. Candidates must check this instruction carefully before taking the test on their instructions screen. For all the papers, negative marking will be 0.25 in part 1 and 0.5 in part 2.
KVPY is the national level program for fellowship in basic sciences, by the DST, GOI. Students with talent and aptitude for research are encouraged to pursue their career in research by availing the KVPY fellowship.
