Kochi Metro is inviting applications to fill up vacancies in the upcoming Kochi Water Metro project connecting the island around the Kochi lagoon with the mainland. The project is financed by the Government of Kerala and KfW, Germany, and is deemed to compete with the standards of the water transportation system in Venice, Italy. Kochi Metro has published an official recruitment notification at the website kochimetro.org for the recruitment of necessary manpower for this project. Accordingly, eligible candidates can apply for the recruitment through the website of the organization. The last date of submission of online applications for the recruitment is July 29, 2020.
As per the official recruitment notification, 7 vacancies are available under the project. The vacancies are available for the posts of Boat Master (2), Boat Operator (1), and Serang (4). All of these posts are to be filled up on a contractual basis for an initial period of 01 years only. However, it has been indicated that the posts are likely to be made permanent either in Kochi Water Metro or in any other wing/subsidiary of Kochi Metro engaged with the Operations & Maintenance of Kochi Water Metro. Boat Master post holders are entitled to receive a monthly consolidated pay of Rs 22000. Boat operators are entitled to receive a monthly consolidated pay of Rs 20000. On the other hand, Serang post holders are entitled to receive a monthly consolidated pay of Rs 18000.
Candidates having 2nd class masters certificate (in compliance with KIV rules) are eligible to apply for the post of Boat Master. Such candidates must have 5 years of minimum experience as Boat Masters in sea or inland vessels. Candidates having 2nd class Engine Driver with Serang certificate (in compliance with KIV rules) and 2 years of minimum experience as Boat Engineer in inland or sea vessels are eligible to apply for the post of Boat Operator. In order to apply for recruitment to the post of Serang, candidates must have a Serang certificate (in compliance with KIV rules). In addition, they must have at least 2 years of experience as Serang in inland or sea vessels. The minimum age to apply for the post of Serang is 21 years. For all of the other posts, the minimum age is 22 years. The maximum permissible age of applicants for all posts is 45 years. In addition, it is mandatory for all applicants to be able to speak, read, and write in English & Malayalam.
Shortlisting of applicants for subsequent selection tests/interviews is done at the discretion of Management of the agency. Only eligible applicants are shortlisted and incomplete and delayed applications are rejected. Candidates shortlisted from the list of applicants are intimated about the conduct of subsequent selection tests such as a written exam, proficiency test, practical test, or interview through email only. Therefore, the applicants must ensure to provide an active email ID while applying online. Candidates do not get any reimbursement or allowance for attending the selection tests as intimated by email.
The application process is conducted online and candidates are advised to go through the instructions provided on the website before applying. The online application link is available as per scheduled on the KMRL website as specified here. Candidates have to upload scanned copies of supporting documents and testimonials with the online application form. All applications must be submitted on or before the specified last date through the website only. Applications submitted through any other modes are summarily rejected.
