.With Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren imposing a partial lockdown of socioeconomic activities in the state last week, e-passes have been made mandatory for all form of intra-state movement of vehicles. Although medical exigencies and funeral processions have been exempted, for any other purpose, one must obtain a valid e-pass from epassjharkhand.nic.in.
As per reports, on May 16, 2021, the government of Jharkhand imposed a state-wide lockdown on socio-economic & socio-cultural activities to restrict the movement of common public in the state in light of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 virus. The government has exempted medical exigencies and funerals. In addition, those who are merely passing through the state to reach to another destination (out of state) or those who are travelling out of state are also exempted from having an e-pass. However, for all other form of inter-district/intra-state travel, one must have a valid e-pass from the portal.
With the lockdown in Jharkhand effective till May 27, 2021 as of now, there are high chances of extension of the lockdown due o the current pandemic situation. Despite of the lockdown, those who think that travel is necessary on their part, have to obtain the e-pass by registering on the portal using their mobile number.
On the website epassjharkhand.nic.in, one can see the link for new registration and click on it. One must provided their mobile number here and submit. Now, one must confirm the number and then set a password in the same way. Once registered, users have to login with the credentials and enter information of their personal details and ID number. A valid photo identity proof is required for this.
Once the profile is updated and users have to proceed to apply for the e-pass. One must enter the information correctly such as their location, purpose of travel etc. When the e-pass is approved, the download link appears on the dashboard of the portal. Users have to download the e-pass and then they can travel to their destination within the state along with the e-pass and photo identity proof.
In addition to compliance with the e-pass policy for travel within the state, the government has also made it mandatory for anyone coming in to the state through train or air to register at jharkhandtravel.nic.in. Such travellers have to remain in one week of mandatory quarantine upon arriving in Jharkhand. However, anyone who is scheduled to return within 72 hours of arriving in the state may be exempted from quarantine.
